Ashanti: [ laughs ] Thank you, thank you. Feels good to be back.
DJ Nasty: So, tell me. What's goin' on with the princess these days?
Ashanti: Well, I'm finishing up my third album. I'm shooting a few movies. I'm headed over to Vancouver for a little somethin', somethin. It's been really tiring, but it's what I love doing.
DJ: Hardworking woman, I see. So what about The Inc.? What's goin' on with the rest of your crew?
Ashanti: Well Ja's new album is comin' out soon, it's titled "R.U.L.E" it's bananas. Lloyd's "Southside" album is out right now in stores, make sure you check that out. And Chuck, Chuck is working on her project now. It should be released around December.
DJ: So this whole year is like the year for Murder Inc, right? [ laughs ]
Ashanti: [ laughs ] Right, right.
DJ: So tell us about your album.
Ashanti: Well, it's kind of a new style. Something you've never heard from Ashanti. The biggest change for me was actually working with artists outside of The Inc. It's going to be really sexy, a lot of club bangers.
DJ: Will we see any dances for some of those club bangers?
Ashanti: Hmm, I don't wanna give out too much. But for my first single, "Turn It Up", I'm planning on something very special for the video.
DJ: Ooh, nice, nice. So, you said you were working with other artists outside of your label. Can you tell us who?
Ashanti: Well, I'm working with R.Kelly on this album. He's awesome, he's really great. Of course, I have the family on it. Lloyd, Ja, and Charlie.
DJ: Any duets?
Ashanti: Um yeah, actually, I recorded a joint with Usher. It was actually for his Confessions album. But it didn't make the album list, so we're thinkin' about puttin' it on mine.
DJ: Ooh, Usher and Ashanti. That's sexy.
Ashanti: [ laughs ] Thank you, thank you.
DJ: We've been gettin' a lot of emails. Basically asking about your relation with other female artists in the game. Beyoncé , Alicia, Monica. What's your relationship with them?
Ashanti: Alicia Keys is a beautiful person inside and out. She's so talented, and through our agents, I actually requested to work with her on this album. Beyoncé is cool. I haven't really had the chance to sit down and converse with her for a while, but the few times I did, she was nice. Talented, and very competitive. [laughs]
DJ: Right, right.
Ashanti: And I just finished a record with Monica. It's with Monica, and a lot of other artists titled "Wake up Everybody". She's a really beautiful person. It was a pleasure workin' with her.
DJ: Yeah, that joint's hot. So what about the 50 and Ja beef. Can you tell us a little about that?
Ashanti: [ sighs ] Well, it's died off kind of. But like I said before, that's not my problem. When it comes to beef, I'm a vegetarian.
DJ: [ laughs ] Right, right. Well look y'all we're about to take a short music break, we got more with Ashanti so don't go nowhere!

Ashanti [ laughs ] Aww , thank you.
DJ Nasty: If you just tuned it, them too damn bad for you. We just got a whole bunch of info on Ms. Ashanti's new album, and how it was workin' with other artists outside of the infamous Murder Inc.
Ashanti: [ laughs ]
DJ Nasty: So, to clear the rumours up, there is no beef between you and the other R&B artists out?
Ashanti: Of course not, no violence, no violence.
DJ Nasty: Good, can't have the ladies fightin'.
Ashanti: [ laughs ]
DJ: I just checked the question box, and the most asked question is referring to Aaliyah. As you know, there's a movie coming up about Aaliyah, and there was some controversy about who was playing her. We hear you were initially chosen. Is this true?
Ashanti: Um, Gotti called me one day and said that I had been offered the role. I did turn down the role, because I have a lot going for me right now, and besides, I don't think the Aaliyah fans would have liked that too much. So I believe they chose Gabrielle Union to play her, and she also turned down the role and now they have Meagen Goode.
DJ: Oh, okay. So for all the listeners, STOP SPREADIN' THESE DAMN RUMOURS!
Ashanti: [ laughs ]
DJ: And you know I have to ask about this. . .
Ashanti: Hmm?
DJ: You , and Nelly. What is goin' on.
Ashanti: [ laughs ] Awww, I knew it ! [ laughs ] Nelly and I are really good friends. That's all. We go on dates, we hang out, we shop, and do all the things normal friends do. His kids are wonderful, I love them. But that's it. We're just friends.
DJ: Are you sure you're not tryin' to pull a Beyoncé and Jay-Z stunt, and fool us?
Ashanti: [ laughs ] Nah, nah. We're just friends.
DJ: And you were with him for the VMA's this year, right?
Ashanti: Yes, we did go together, although we arrived seperately. His performance with Christina Aguliera was bananas!
DJ: Mmhmm...
Ashanti: [ laughs ] What?
DJ: No jealousy, was there?
Ashanti: Nahh [ laughs lightly ] of course not. We're just friends !
DJ: [ laughs ] Okay, okay. They're just friends. So stop SPREADIN DAMN RUMOURS !
Ashanti: [ laughs ]
