| LAVIGNE INFURIATES HOMETOWN
Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne has infuriated residents in her hometown of Napanee, Ontario after trashing the town in a magazine.
The young hitmaker, 19, told mens glossy Blender, "There is [bleep] at all to do. It's just a little town where everybody knows everybody and their business. There's nothing to do except get drunk."
Mayor Gord Schermerhorn is disappointed with Lavigne's comments about Napanee, which boasts a 15,000 population and has just opened a multi-million dollar community center and Arena.
Schermerhorn says, "I have grown up here and there is more to do in Napanee than to get drunk."
Local DJ Sean Kelly at radio station The Mix 97 admits her latest comments are nothing new.
Kelly explains, "There's a song called 'Mobile' on her first CD where she talks about Napanee and how it's nothing but a dope town, blah, blah, blah." | |
