Nelly shaves hair to support sister

American rapper Nelly has shaved his head in solidarity with his sister Jackie, who is battling leukaemia.

Each time treatment causes his sister Jackie's hair to fall out, he gets rid of his.

And the Grammy-winning star has launched a nationwide search in the US to find bone marrow donors to help 30-year-old Jackie.

She was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2001, and the cancer was in remission for nearly two years.

But she suffered a relapse in January last year, when she discovered that she would need a bone marrow transplant.

It's all a sad distraction from Nelly's flourishing recording career. He will release two albums simultaneously, Sweat and Suit, on September 14.

Good on him! Cancer can be so hard to go through, especially because of a percieved lack of support even within your family, so it's great that even though Nelly is busy with touring and recording, that he still finds a way to let his sister know that he's there for her.

Sheryl, I don't think Nelly will actually be reading this. If you're serious, you shoudl get tested FIRST then try and then through your doctor get placed on the doners list.

I heard a rumon that Jackie died......but I can't find any 411 on the subject matter. Does anyone know?

I can definitely relate. I go to several of my own family members funerals every year. I just lost a cousin a couple of weeks ago. My grandmother passed away two days ago on Easter day. Plus, my father suffered two massive strokes back on January 4th that caused him to be in a vegetative state every since. I can definitely relate to tragedy.

Be strong Nelly, I've got you and everyone else in my prayers.

I was just about to post this news. How very sad.

Nelly has cancelled three/ four concerts in Texas, I believe, to be able to go back home to his family to deal with this.
