MADONNA has bought BRITNEY SPEARS a rather unusual engagement gift – a 12th century Kabbalah book.

She presented Britney and fiancé KEVIN FEDERLINE with one of the mystical Jewish faith’s central texts, the Zohar.

The special bound edition of the Zohar – or Book Of Splendour as it’s also known – is worth thousands of pounds and apparently Britney has kept it with her ever since.

A source told me: “Britney was delighted with the book. She has read it thoroughly and seems completely taken with it.

“Madonna has always looked out for Britney. When Britney was going through a tough time earlier in the year, Madonna used Kabbalah teachings to help her through.”

Experts say the Zohar is an extremely tough read and almost impossible to grasp.

But Britney claims it paints “a bigger picture than even the Bible”.

She says: “It’s just so interesting to me because I’ve never read stuff like this before.”

The Zohar was written in the 12th century in Spain offering philosophy for life, as well as astrology and numerology.

Orthodox rabbis have to study for 20 years before even approaching the Zohar and some warn it’s too complex for anyone under 40 to read.

Maybe Britney has the picture pop-up version.

Sounds like an interesting book. I coudl never read it though. Maybe if someone DID make a pop-up version!

Britney Spears to Write a Kabbalah Book??

Britney Spears has been asked to write a Kabbalah children's book. The sexy star - who became a follower of the mystical Jewish faith after being introduced to it by Madonna - is set to follow in the pop superstar's footsteps after reportedly being approached by representatives of the church to pen a story inspired by the religion's teachings.

Madonna has already written five children's books, including 'The English Roses' and 'Yakov and the Seven Thieves', inspired by her Kabbalah beliefs and Britney, who recently gave birth to son Sean Preston, is said to be keen on the idea.

Meanwhile, Britney is allegedly furious with husband Kevin Federline's non-stop partying. Kevin has been spotted out drinking with friends several times since the birth of the couple's son leaving new mum Britney at home.
