| The world's richest teenager may soon be making a deal with the Material Girl herself, after Madonna showed an interest in buying Athina Roussel's Greek island.
The Queen of Pop has paid several visits to Skorpios, which Athina has put on the market for £195 million.
According to press reports, the Onassis heiress wants to sell the Ionian island because it holds unhappy memories. The teenager, who inherited a £5-billion dynasty when she turned 18 last year, rarely visits the 3,000-acre property.
Her grandfather Aristotle bought Skorpios, where he romanced opera singer Maria Callas and former First Lady Jacqueline Onassis, for £6,500 back in 1962. And it is also here that the shipping magnate is buried, along with Athina's mother Christina and uncle Alexander.
The tycoon's sole heir is apparently keen to sell Skorpios as she would rather distance herself from the family's tragic past. Her grandfather died in 1975, two years after his son was killed in a plane crash. Christina meanwhile lost her life to an overdose in 1988, aged 37.
However, Athina has reportedly insisted that whoever buys the property must allow her to visit the family graves on the island whenever she wishes. | |
