| MADONNA PUT ON 'THE RACK'
Pop superstar Madonna has adopted an unusual new exercise technique, nicknamed "the rack," to keep her fit and flexible during her world tour.
The singer is the latest exponent of the Gyrotonic Expansion System, which involves being strapped into a contraption with stirrups, pulleys and ropes, and gently stretched.
Fans of the fad claim it strengthens and stretches muscles and boosts longevity.
While on the British leg of her Re-Invention tour, Madonna has been visiting Gyrotonic pioneer James D'Silva in North London, where she pays $110 an hour for one-on-one pilates and Gyrotonic sessions.
Matt Aversa, director of makers Gyrotonic, says, "Gyrotonic training creates a muscle that is strong, but a muscle that also has suppleness or dexterity.
"This will decrease the chance of injury and prepare Madonna's body for what she does." | |
