Reality TV - Britney to Take Over Newlyweds? |
| Posted by: schmiggens | | Britney Wants A Newlyweds Show
BRITNEY Spears is going retro. For her upcoming "Greatest Hits" album, the pop tart is recording a remake of Bobby Brown's '80s hit "My Perogative." According to "Access Hollywood," in the video for the song, Spears will "marry" a Kevin Federline look-alike. The two are also supposedly in talks with MTV to become MTV's new "Newlyweds." According to US Weekly, "Britney wants Kevin to be just as famous as she is."
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, who currently star in "Newlyweds," have said they don't want to do the show anymore. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | I think that could work. I don't know if Britney could manage it quite as well as Jessica has done. Britney doesn't like the paparazi as much and might fly off the handle a bit.

Britney Spears is set to become a reality TV star with a show following her first few weeks as a married woman.
She will allow cameras to film her and husband-to-be Kevin Federline.
Britney says she wants to show fans how good their relationship is and sources close to her claim she "wants Kevin to be just as famous as she is".
The singer is in talks with MTV chiefs to appear on the channel's hit show Newlyweds, according to newspaper reports.
The show may help her rebuild her profile after a year of grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons, including her bizarre 24-hour marriage to an old school friend. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Britney Spears' Reality Show Is 'A Documentation Of Love'
Spears and husband Kevin Federline will star in six-episode series on UPN.
Britney Spears is delving into reality television, thanks to a deal she recently inked with UPN, according to a spokesperson for the network. Spears and husband Kevin Federline will star in their own unscripted, as-yet-untitled series, which will document the couple's relationship, from the earliest stages of their courtship to their engagement and ultimately, their stroll down the aisle.
UPN won a fierce bidding war to secure the rights to the six-episode series, which the network plans to roll out sometime next month, before the current season comes to a close, according to UPN.
With the series, Spears says she'll be able to contradict the tabloid media's misguided portrayal of her private life.
"From the day that Kevin and I met, there have been constant rumors and inaccurate speculation about our lives together," Spears said in a statement. "I feel that last year, the tabloids ran my life, and I am really excited about showing my fans what really happened, rather than all the stories, which have been misconstrued by journalists in the past. As I mentioned before, I am now going to be expressing my personal life through art" (see "Britney Spears Promises To Shut Up About Her Personal Life").
Spears blasted several tabloids last week in a letter posted her Web site (see "Britney Lashes Out Against Tabloid 'Liars' On Her Web Site"). In the missive, she characterized recent speculation that she's pregnant and her marriage was in trouble as unfair, and condemned the tabloids as duplicitous, since they never come clean about their own shortcomings.
Dawn Ostroff, president of entertainment for UPN, said the lion's share of the show's content will consist of video footage Spears and Federline shot themselves. In essence, the couple will serve as the program's hosts, and will walk the audience through the story of them. There will be five half-hour episodes capped off with an hour-long finale, which will center around their September 18, 2004, nuptials.
The couple had cameras rolling as they gallivanted across Europe and even while they were making wedding-day plans, and the series is expected to include footage from those tapes.
Ostroff feels the story of Spears and Federline's relationship is so riveting that "even if it were a fictitious story, it would be interesting. The fact that it's about one of the biggest stars out there makes it all the more fascinating."
Federline, who along with Spears will get an executive-producing credit, said in a statement that the show is "a documentation of love." No official premiere date has been set, but it's likely the series will debut in late May, during the tail end of sweeps.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | FEDERLINE PITCHES OWN REALITY SHOW
Britney Spears' husband Kevin Federline is hoping to land even more screen time, after pitching a reality TV show of his own.
Just a day after announcing a reality show with Spears, dancer Federline, an aspiring model, actor and singer, has reportedly been trying to sell the idea of another series chronicling his professional life as he records and promotes his first album.
No record deal has been announced, but Federline met with executives at cable network E! Entertainment Television on April 1, and pitched himself as the next Eminem, according to People magazine.
E! has yet to offer him a deal, but Federline is reportedly getting a boost from his wife, who is allowing him access to top music producers to help launch his debut album.
A pal says, "(Critics) want to make him out to be the 'taker' he is really not. He's just trying to do his best being in the spotlight."
Spears and Federline's six-episode show, documenting their courtship and marriage, is due to premiere before the end of next month.

No, the show coming out is not a reality show like The Newlyweds or The Osbournes. It is documentary-style footage which was filmed by Britney and Kevin. It's not as conservative as Nick and Jessica's show nor is it as dysfunctional as the Osbournes. Britney and Kevin think it's just right. It's their world. Trust us, it's like nothing you've seen before.
The show premieres on May 17th on UPN!

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Britney Spears Defends Reality Show Decision
BRITNEY INSISTS REALITY SHOW IS RIGHT
BRITNEY SPEARS jumped at the chance to make a reality show with husband KEVIN FEDERLINE - because every risk she has taken in her career has paid off.
The pregnant superstar admits the couple were as surprised as fans by their decision to allow cameras into their lives to film BRITNEY AND KEVIN: CHAOTIC, insisting their initial reaction was to shun the proposal.
However, she maintains it is the right decision and the right time to give TV viewers across the world exclusive access to her marriage.
Spears says, "Doing a documentary series seemed like the last thing I would do. Having our series be compared to all the 'reality shows' on television right now and putting ourselves out there seemed crazy, but that is exactly when I realised I should do it. The craziest things I've ever done have been for the best.
"The incentive behind me doing this series wasn't for my career. So much happened last year much too fast and I really wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to reflect on all of it.
"It's like my own therapy."

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Reality show: No one can walk away from this and not think she's adorable
Britney Spears sang "hit me baby, one more time" to fans, but last year she sang a different tune into a digital camera. Now UPN is fashioning dozens of hours of her home-video footage into a five-episode reality series being rushed on the air Tuesday (9 p.m. ET/PT) to give the network an extra push to end the regular TV season.
The show offers no breaking news about Spears and Kevin Federline, her former backup dancer turned husband, who also took turns behind the camera.
And the show probably won't even mention Spears' newly revealed pregnancy.
Instead, Britney and Kevin: Chaotic promises "personal" glimpses of an eight-month span last year, shortly after they met, from last spring's European tour to the couple's September wedding.
What's unusual is the source material.
"Other reality shows have followed Farrah or followed Paris and Nicole," executive producer Susan Zirinsky says. "This didn't set out to be a reality show; it became one after the fact."
Spears and Federline used a digital video camera to record a diary of her tour and their budding romance. She interviews her assistant, bodyguards and other members of her entourage, and turns the camera on herself, sitting in a makeup chair. Federline also gets into the act, filming Spears.
"It's almost as if the camera is part of the relationship," Zirinsky says. "At first, it's a goof; it's a vehicle for fun." But later it's like therapy: "She sort of steps back and is scared of her relationship, scared of committing, and he tries to help. Sometimes it's easier to ask a question when you're looking into a viewfinder."
The footage won't win awards. "Some of it's really shaky," says Zirinsky, who is executive producer of CBS' 48 Hours newsmagazine but also has dabbled in entertainment specials, including Friday's Elvis by the Presleys on CBS.
And though 90% of the show is culled from the couple's footage, UPN shot interviews with Spears and Federline, separately and together, to stitch together the chronological story. Both are credited as executive producers.
On her Web site, Spears says the series is a response to "constant rumors and inaccurate speculation about our lives together. I feel that last year the tabloids ran my life, and I am really excited about showing my fans what really happened."
Says Zirinsky: "I think people don't know who she really is. She doesn't feel sorry for herself. But no one is going to be able to walk away from this and not think she's adorable. This is raw, and this is very much her story."
After premiering with a one-hour episode Tuesday, the series will air half-hour editions for three weeks before wrapping up with an hour-long finale planned for June 14. The episodes will repeat on either MTV or VH1 a week after their UPN run.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Britney: "Now my fans can fall in love with Kevin"
BRITNEY SPEARS chose to make her reality TV debut with a home video show - because she used her little camera to woo husband KEVIN FEDERLINE.
The couple will unveil their new series, BRITNEY + KEVIN: CHAOTIC, on US TV next week (17MAY05), and Spears is convinced her fans will fall for her man just as she did when they see the candid footage.
She says, "I think my fans are going to fall completely in love with him, just like I did. He's the sexiest thing in the world. And he's sensitive. He's a perfect husband. He's awesome."
The footage, taken from the hours of home video footage the pair shot of their courtship, will feature the couple as they fall in love while the pop star trekked around the world on her 2004 ONYX HOTEL TOUR.
Britney adds, "We kind of used the camera to get to know each other better. I invited him to come see me in London. I didn't really know him that well and when I got the camera out, it made me feel better. This whole project got started with me holding a little camera and just taking it on tour with me. A lot of this footage was done a year ago. My husband and I were looking back at it and we thought we would share it with everybody."

Grammy Award®-winning pop icon BRITNEY SPEARS and husband KEVIN FEDERLINE invite America to get up close and personal on their new UPN reality series, "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic," premiering Tuesday, May 17 at p.m.
"I think my fans are going to fall completely in love with him, just like I did," Britney shares. "He's the sexiest thing in the world. And he's sensitive. He's a perfect husband. He's awesome."
The footage for "Chaotic" is all from the personal home videos that the soon-to-be new mom and her husband shot while she was on the road for her 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour, with additional footage they shot during their courtship, engagement and wedding.
Excited by the new man in her life, Britney documented their first romantic moments together.
"We kind of used the camera to get to know each other better," Britney explains. "I invited him to come see me in London. I didn't really know him that well and when I got the camera out, it made me feel better."
ET's first look at "Chaotic" shows how the relationship between the pop princess and her dancer/model husband began as a friendship, and escalated from there.
"It's kind of interesting to see how we fell in love, got in fights, everything," she says.
The idea to take the footage public was sparked when Kevin took the video back to his hotel room one night and edited it.
"He did all this cool stuff to it," Britney recalls. "We were like this could totally be in a video. This is awesome. From there we took it in our hands and wanted to make it our own project."
Even before "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic," the newlyweds had a video history together. Kevin appears as Britney's Mr. Perfect in her "My Prerogative" video.
"This whole project got started with me holding a little camera and just taking it on tour with me," Britney explains. "Actually, a lot of this footage was done a year ago. My husband and I were looking back at it and we thought we would share it with everybody."
For more on Britney and Kevin, tune in to this weekend's ET on MTV and get "Chaotic."

Britney & Kevin Make Baby Talk
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline sat down for a joint interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her show that aired Tuesday.
Seeking insight into how their meeting developed into marriage, Ellen found out from Britney that she didn't know immediately that she and Kevin were meant for each other, saying, "It evolved." She also admitted that she was the one who proposed.
"Did he say yes right away?" Ellen wanted to know.
"Not right away," Britney said. "I felt rejected."
As Kevin explained his hesitation: "I told her it's not right for the woman to ask the man, the man is supposed to get on one knee." As the audience delivered a collective "Awww," he added: "It took me about five minutes" before saying yes.
Sitting on Ellen's sofa with his arm around his pregnant wife, Federline went silent when the hostess asked them both, "What's the best part about being married?

Brit & Kevin's Baby Adventure
Having announced on April 12 that they are expecting a baby, the couple received gifts from DeGeneres, starting with a large package of diapers emblazoned with the slogan, "Oops ... I Did It Again."
To help the proud parents avoid the paparazzi, Ellen gave them baseball caps. Britney's reads, "I'm not Britney Spears," while Kevin's says, "I'm not Kevin Federline."
There was even one for the baby. The tiny one says: "I'm not their baby."
The couple's new reality show, Chaotic, premieres Tuesday on UPN. In a preview clip, Britney – in extreme close-up – stares directly into the camera and asks viewers, "Can you handle my truth? Can you? Can you?"

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Yep, Britney, we can handle the truth
Sex! More sex! Spears' 'Chaotic' doesn't reveal much
pdated: 3:20 a.m. ET May 18, 2005At the very least, the debut episode of “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic” helps explain why Her Spearsness got with child not long after she and Kevin Federline began their days of wedded bliss.
“God, our sex is so good, yes it is,” she tells the camera not long after first meeting (and quickly bedding) her man. Moments later she brags to her long-suffering assistant Felicia, “I’ve had had sex three times today.”
What to do on a dreary day in London, where this first episode unfolds? “Let’s just ---- all day,” she suggests to Kev, who doesn’t exactly reject that suggestion.
If Britney was getting play half as often as she mentions it on her new UPN home-video clip show, it’s a miracle she had enough energy to make it to Wembley Stadium for her concert.
Frankly, we shouldn’t be so naïve as to think an image-obsessed entertainer like Britney would surrender up a legitimately unvarnished peek at her life.
She makes the requisite goofy faces and coolly self-deprecating (but never close to embarrassing) humor. Beyond the endless nookie talk, she allows herself to appear doing some things -- like smoking a cigarette –- she once reportedly fought like a cranky tiger to keep out of the public eye.
But she’s not about to let anyone rub through even the top layer of her sheen. When Felicia responds to Britney’s endless smack-talking with a slight dig, Spears’ voice instantly shifts; she sounds like a lady of the manor scolding an errant maid.
And after Britney manages to humiliate her entire retinue by demanding they reveal their favorite sexual position, she snappily ducks that very question when the camera is finally turned on her: “No, I’m not going to answer that.”
By comparison, Paris Hilton is the very model of transparency.
Bitter Britney?
Spears spends much of the rest of her time in a clunky bit of foreshadowing, querying everyone in her immediate vicinity about commitment.
She rather improbably bemoans how lonely and bitter she is. She wants us to believe she was wasting away in Britain, awaiting her one true love. (Brad Pitt, she tells us.)
And then — you know what’s coming — there’s … this guy. It was a Monday night at Joseph’s Café in Hollywood. They met. They danced. She can’t get him out of her head. Cue the chorus.
So of course she does what any responsible young woman would do: Drags him to London to follow her around on tour.
Should we be surprised that the love-and-marriage questions (all recorded on video, of course) start soon after he arrives? Given the Fedster’s track record with ex-girlfriends, should we be shocked when he replies, “Love is a commitment. I don’t believe in marriage”? Thanks for clearing that one up, Kev.
Britney’s not done yet, though. What’s his take on love vs. sex? “It makes it good when you have feelings for somebody. It’s not just sex, or I mean it’s … it gets deeper than that.”
Her tender reply: “Cool!”
Harlequin novel fodder, indeed.
Perhaps the best subplot in this whole endeavor, which makes “Survivor” look like cinema verité, comes when her security man, Mo, offers a clear-eyed take on our man Federline: “There was nothing I liked about Kevin the first day I met him.” Curious to see how that resolves, no?
'Can you handle my truth?'
Presumably, we’re meant to believe Britney is letting us through her door, even if the savvy Spears-lover knows by now that she wouldn’t eat a Twizzler without considering how it could impact her image. So when she sees a handful of paparazzi standing below her plush hotel suite, she quickly shifts into Defiant Britney.
“People can take everything away from you but they can never take away my truth,” she rants. “But the question is: Can you handle it? Can you handle my truth? I don’t know.”
If this hastily jammed-together excuse for a May sweeps entry even began to approach the truth, it might be more, um, dangerous. But there’s precious little chance of that. Madonna, in whose image-perfect steps Britney treads, offered up way more reality in her 1991 documentary “Truth or Dare.” To anyone who believes Britney is Madonna Lite, you’ve got more evidence right here.
The closest we get to an unvarnished moment in this first episode comes as Britney and Kevin discuss Eminem. Britney first talks scrap about Mr. Mathers, then offers an unexpected dollop of praise: “Hey, whatever gets you in the game, right, and gets you out there, it’s cool. It’s controversy. That’s what they all want. It’s how good you can play the game.”
Seeing as we’re wasting hours of prime-time TV to watching this jumbled heap of Britneyisms, it’s fair to say she’s playing the game pretty darn well.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | The gernal reaction to the show seems to be that
1) it's a waste of time, unless you're a fan
2) Britney knows what she's doing and she's a good business woman
I think I already knew that before it screened though. I still wanna watch it though. I love candid Britney, she is so different from screen Britney and even though you won't see as much of her candidness as you did say, back when she toured Hawaii and the Behind-the-scenes DVD came out, it's still there. She's just more in control of herself and how much she lets the public see now. | | Reply To this Message

Pop sensation Britney Spears reportedly has agreed to screen the birth of her baby on the next season of her reality TV show "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic."
In a bid to beat pop rival Jessica Simpson's show "Newlyweds," Spears has decided to allow cameras at the intimate moment, to boost lackluster ratings.
The baby is due later this year and will be Spears' first child and husband Kevin Federline's third.
A source told British tabloid the Daily Star, "Britney was in two minds about the birth even after she'd decided to do a one-off special to introduce the little one to the world.
"It'd be a follow-up to the series and also a great record for them. It's just like the proud dad taping the event.
"Cameras won't roll through the most intimate parts but there will be scenes included."
