Can America accept democracy? |
| Posted by: h@ts | | So what does America and particularly Republicans supporters think now that Chavez has won the vote in Venezuela?
Does this mean that Bush will stop trying to help oust this popular leader? Will the American elite now accept the Venezuelan people's democratic right to have the leader they chose rather than one that benefits US interests? Or will they continue to fund the opposition and stir up trouble in the South American country? | | Reply To this Message

Why yes you genius. We oust every single leader who doesn't sell us oil. Aren't you so smart.

Hey this is 2004 and Wal-Mart rules the world. American free radio and TV has been sunk by major cartels and everyone is a puppet on a money string. Get over your lost freedom: it has gone for good.

| Posted by: nikiTa | | Bono from U2 wrote this in the early 80's...he could see it all coming....
From "Seconds" War album
"In an apartment on Times Square
You can assemble them anywhere
Held to ransom, held to pay
A revolution every day
U.S.S.R., D.D.R.
London, New York, Peking
It's the puppets,
It's the puppets pulling the strings
Fall, rise and fall, rise and.........
Say goodbye, say goodbye.......
I wanna be an airforce ranger
I wanna live the life of danger......
It takes a second to say goodbye
Say goodbye
Push the button and pull the plug
Say goodbye.....
And they're doing the atomic bomb
Do they know where the dance comes from
Yes, they're doing the atomic bomb
They want you to sing along
Say goodbye, say goodbye"

That's good but Billy Bragg is better with his old anthem "Help Save the Youth of America."
I will find the lyrics.

Help save them from themselves
Help save the sun-tanned surfer boys
And the californian girls
When the lights go out in the rest of the world
What do our cousins say
They?re playing in the sun and having fun, fun, fun
Till daddy takes the gun away
From the big church to the big river
And out to the shining sea
This is the land of opportunity
And there?s a monkey trial on tv
A nation with their freezers full
Are dancing in their seats
While outside another nation
Is sleeping in the streets
Don?t tell me the old, old story
Tell me the truth this time
Is the man in the mask or the indian
An enemy or a friend of mine
Help save the youth of america
Help save the youth of the world
Help save the boys in uniform
Their mothers and their faithful girls
Listen to the voice of the soldier
Down in the killing zone
Talking about the cost of living
And the price of bringing him home
They?re already shipping the body bags
Down by the rio grande
But you can fight for democracy at home
And not in some foreign land
And the fate of the great united states
Is entwined in the fate of us all
And the incident at tschernobyl proves
The world we live in is very small
And the cities of europe have burned before
And they may yet burn again
And if they do I hope you understand
That washington will burn with them
Omaha will burn with them
Los alamos will burn with them | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: wuz | | I lifted those lyrics from a lyrics site. What is very interesting is that although Billy Bragg mixes state names with city names, he predicted the burning of Washington DC (Pentagon) although he obviously missed NYC. But his point is well taken. He wrote this during the days of Ollie North. | | Reply To this Message
