Q. Let's talk about Russell. Russell is the fellow who handed you a bracelet as soon as he introduced himself to you. I thought it was kind of tacky, but it worked since you picked him to move on. Don't you agree that just didn't look good?
Trista: It wasn't about the bracelet, and there's a story behind it. He gave me that bracelet for a reason. It was a charm bracelet. He was being considered as the first bachelor then in Lake Tahoe. We were both there at the same time with our friends and so we've met before. The reason why he gave me the charm bracelet on the show is because it was the third time we met and he was saying, "Third time's a charm." It was a very, very thoughtful gift and it wasn't just about the gift. When we sat down, people could see the sparks between us. It wasn't about the little blue box or the gift inside, it was all about the thought behind the gift. But a lot of people thought it was tacky. I'm just glad I can talk about it now.
Q: I would imagine the other bachelors would have a problem with it.
Trista: They did! A lot of the guys had a big problem with it. In fact, they all disliked Russell from the get-go because of it. But you know what, like you said, sometimes you have to sell yourself, and he probably felt that was a good way for me to remember him. You'd have to ask him. But obviously it worked! | |
