After receiving flack for riding Eminem's coattails, D12 proved that they could carry an album without the majority of bulk being carried by their shining leader. Their recently release D12 World has went 3x platinum worldwide with the help of their hit single "My Band," mocking themselves for Eminem shining brighter than them.
D12 are receiving some recognition from MTV, being nominated for three MTV VMAs including "Best Video of the Year," "Best Group Video" and "Best Rap Video. The group's current single, "How Come," has continued to stay on MTV's TRL since it's release.
Other than their recent tour, D12 are staying busy. They have also dipped their hands into movies as the group have two new feature films in the works-- one called "Runyon Cash," named after the street the group members grew up on and "Devil's Night," which will be a horror film of sorts. Both movies will be produced by the group's manager, Jeremy Geffen and Max Gousse. And are expected to be released in 2005.
That's not it though. The group is preparing to branch off a little as Bizarre prepares to record a solo album, which is yet to be titled and Kon Artis along with Kuniva will be recording an album as the Brigade, both due in early 2005.
D12's debut album Devil's Night went on to sell 4 million units worldwide with the help of only one single, while D12 World continues to push more and more units every week. | |
