Clinton asked to host comedy show

Former President Bill Clinton could be a host of the sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live" this season.

TV Guide Online quotes anonymous sources saying that Clinton has been offered the gig if he wants it.

A decision is expected this week.

Meanwhile, Clinton is scheduled to appear this week on the "Late Show With David Letterman," a week after he addressed the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Clinton will be soldiering for his memoir, "My Life."

Since its release on June 22, the book has sold more than 1.5 million copies.

Clinton last appeared on Letterman's late-night show on Sept. 11, 2002, the first anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

That would be comedy. I see Darrel Hammond salivating at the chance to dress up like Clinton next to the real Clinton.

Clinton Helps Letterman to Win Over Leno

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Former President Bill Clinton's appearance Tuesday night vaulted "Late Show with David Letterman" to a rare win against "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Nielsen Media Research data showed Letterman delivered a 5.2 rating/12 share among households in the top 56 "metered" markets, slightly higher than the 4.8/11 for Leno. It was the highest rating for Letterman since March 29, when Janet Jackson's guest appearance helped it deliver a 5.5/12.
