POP svengali Simon Fuller is heading for a High Court showdown with Simon Cowell's bosses at BMG records over the future series of Pop Idol.
The record label currently has rights to distribute singles and albums from the show's winners.
But now it's issued a writ saying Fuller's company 19 is trying to line up a new deal for the winner and runner-up of American Idol - Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo - with rival Universal.
The writ orders 19 Group to give BMG access to the artists and also asks for an injunction, preventing Fuller from offering the rights elsewhere.
A BMG spokesperson told industry bible MusicWeek: "We are in dispute with 19, but we are confident we will resolve this minor dispute."
A mouthpiece at 19 said: "We are aware that there is an issue which is being talked through."
Let's hope it gets sorted. | |
