He's run over by car at posh party
SOMEHOW we just knew Jamiroquai star Jay Kay would never stick to his pledge to stop boozing.
And his high-spirited behaviour at the Cartier International Polo at Windsor Great Park on Sunday night nearly ended in tragedy when he was hit by a car.
So much for his promise two months ago that he'd quit drinking to concentrate on getting his new album out in October.
The cheeky singer's drunken antics were brought to an abrupt halt after he reeled out into the night at 1am.
"It was quite a sight," says our source. "One minute he was wobbling out of the Chinawhite tent and the next a car ploughed into him.
"He's very lucky as the driver was going really slowly, so not much damage was done. Jay was a bit shaken up but apart from that there wasn't any broken bones or blood.
"He was helped up afterwards and was able to walk. But it was awful to watch. It looked pretty painful."
Luckily for fans, the accident won't affect his famous dancing skills. Earlier in the evening we hear Jay, 34, thought it was hilarious to taunt the crowds of people who were trying to blag it into the exclusive Chinawhite tent.
That's where our favourite ginger party boy Prince Harry was hanging out with Scarlett Johansson, Nick Moran and David Hasselhoff.
"Everyone had wristbands to get into China's," says our source. "Loads of people were outside trying to get in and were begging the VIPs in there to give them wristbands.
"Jay decided to eat his plastic wristband instead. It really shut up some of the wannabes who were trying to blag their way in."
Jay hasn't had much luck with cars lately. He owns a fleet of luxury models at his £1million mansion in Buckinghamshire and is regularly spotted at the wheel of one of his many Ferraris or Bentleys.
But eight days ago he escaped sentencing for speeding so he could finish work on his album.
He faces a long ban after reaching 105mph in Scotland earlier this year. The case has been put off until September.
This week Jay flies back to New York, where he'll stay for a fortnight and put the final touches to the album, which has the working title of Dynamite.
A spokesman for the singer said last night: "A good time was had by all. He isn't available for comment as he's out on the golf course."
Sorry, but managing to get run over isn't our idea of a good time, Jay. Ouch. | |
