HE has met just about every gorgeous pop star – but PRINCE CHARLES isn’t good enough for AVRIL LAVIGNE.
The Canadian rocker pulled out of meeting the Prince of Wales at Capital FM’s Party In The Park in London yesterday with just hours to spare, throwing organisers into a panic.
The pop rocker and R&B star JAMELIA were due to sit either side of Charles as he watched the end of the show in aid of the Prince’s Trust in Hyde Park.
But flustered flunkeys were told Avril would not be showing. A backstage insider told me: “Avril wasn’t keen on the idea. She wanted to get away as soon as she completed her set.
“Hasty arrangements were made for WILL YOUNG to take Avril’s place.
“The official line is that Avril had a plane to catch. But the truth is she is cripplingly shy and hates publicity stunts.”
Avril played a great set but her appearence was marred by heavy-handed treatment from her army of minders.
Fans were stopped from taking pictures and photographers were barred from snapping her as she walked on stage. Avril did a brief TV interview after her set but then left.
Will was only too happy to take her place next to the prince. But he said: “I’ve no idea what I’m going to say.”
Jamelia was just as giddy with excitement saying: “I’ll probably say, ‘Chas, how’s it going?’.”
It was the first time Prince Charles has been snubbed by a pop star. But I think giving the elbow to royalty will add to Avril’s cool.

No one will never forget about her she is the most popular female artist of the year.
Get over yourself girl. In two years when everyone's forgotton who you are, you'll wish you hadn't been such a spoilt little brat.
Hey, by the sounds of that article I don't think she was snubbing him, she either just needed to get away or was too shy. Though that doesn't really sound like her.
Yes it does. Who the hell wants to meet Prince Charles? Has he ever done anything good in his life? Avril has accomplished much, much, more than Charles ever will. Avril knew her rights and used them appropriately.
He'll just have to 'get over it', though I'm sure, with all his money. he'll be fine.
Has Prince Charles ever done anything good in his life? Are you insane?
The place Avril snubbed him was at the Prince Charles' Prince's Trust Party in The Park, a yearly charity performance osganised by the Prince's Trust to raise money for charity groups. Princes Charles work tirelessly with charitys and less-fortunate people.
I think that is more of a life achievement than having sold a few records based on some record-company-manufactured-faux-punk personality.
If Avril hadn't wanted to work with the Prince's Trust, and hadn't wanted to meet Prince Charles, she shouldn't have done the performance. You shouldn't agree to work with someone for a charity and then let your pathetic ego get in the way of the occassion.
If you've seen any of Avril's TV interviews like when she was on The View, or when she was on late night talkshows with people like Leno and Letterman, you'd KNOW that Avril is very shy and uncomfortable doing anything publicly other than singing and performing.
But I think that she doesn't like Prince Charles. I don't personally think too highly of him, and I can't say that his charity work comes from a charitable place, because I believe that it's part of the royal duty, and definately a good way to remain noble in the public eye, to work with charities and the less-fortunate. That's not meant to diminish what he's accomplished in that respect. I just wanted to consider the possibility that his work is more selfish than we might think.
I think it was unprofessional of Avril to skip out with about 2 hrs left before the event. Even if the truth is that she didn't like the publicity stunt and photo opportunity presented by sitting next to Big Ears, she should have exercised a bit more professional decorum and made it clear earlier on that she wasn't for the idea.
UNLESS, it was her publicist that handled everything and kept Avril in the dark about the meeting with Charles until late in the game. If I was Avril, and I'd made it clear to my publicist that I wasn't into publicity stunts, and then my publicist arranged a stunt and kept it from me til the last possible minute thinking that I'd have to do it, I'd intentionally walk away too. And I'd be quickly looking for a new publicist, even if they were family.

Oh please. He hasn't done anything near enough to be considered someone who has done 'so much'. Works tirelessly does he?
Yes he does, shooting birds and foxes.
He doesn't need to raise money, he's got money. He was born with a silver, no wait, a gold spoon in his mouth and still couldn't treat his wife properly. Life is easy for the man who will never be king. Where was his mouth when his country went to war against Iraq? Where was his money when the people devestated by the war couldn't find food or water?
Avril is worth much, much more than him and doesn't she know it.
