Spears Says She Is Marrying for Love

NEW YORK - This time, she's marrying for love, Britney Spears said of her recent engagement to dancer Kevin Federline.

"Marrying Kevin was the last thing I was thinking about doing," Spears tells People magazine in its July 12 issue. "But then I said, `You know what? This is my life and I don't care what people think. I'm going to get married. I'm in love with him.'"

Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, began dating a few months ago, after her Las Vegas wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander in January. That marriage was annulled 55 hours later.

Of the quickie Vegas ceremony, "That thing was a total ugh," she says. "I was not in love at all."

This is different, says Spears, who's wearing a five-carat diamond set atop two slender platinum, diamond-encrusted bands on her left finger.

Federline popped the question on an airplane while flying with Spears from Ireland to New York after the European leg of her tour. "I'd known for a while that she's the one," he says.

"I kissed a bunch of frogs and finally found my prince," says Spears. "I feel like I've found my happily ever after."

Federline, who performed as a backup dancer for Justin Timberlake, Spears' former boyfriend, previously was involved with Shar Jackson, star of TV's "Moesha." They have a 2-year-old daughter and are expecting another baby.

"I plan to meet his daughter," Spears says. "I love little ones. I think the situation is good."

The singer says she wants children of her own someday. "I'm not pregnant. (But) I definitely want to have some kids. I see myself with four or five."

She adds: "We're starting with a dog. I just got a Maltese named Lacy."

Looks like J-Lo has some competition in the marrying field. We will see how long this one lasts.

Who knows... she probably does, from her long time relationship with Justin.
I just find it funny that she married some guy from high school, had it annulled a couple days later, and then started up with this guy. It's only been a few months, and she's going to marry him. I just find it a little funny when someone jumps around from relationship to relationship.

- Turns out Britney did the proposing! And she basically sprung it on him so he didn't say yes at first. She popped the question on a plane flight while they were having "the talk", you know, the one where you talk about your future and marriage with some guy who has an ex whose carrying his second child that you've only been seeing for a couple months. You know, that "talk".

- After the shock wore off, a few minutes later, Kevin proposed to her.

- Now since it was so sudden, there was no ring. She had her wedding planner bring by about 10 different huge honkin' rings to choose from and she ended up picking "a basic ring"…a FIVE-carat diamond, set on two platinum, diamond-encrusted bands.

- Britney now refers to her relationship with Justin as "puppy love, like practice for the real thing".

- Britney will be step-mom to Kevin's 2 children - Kory, his daughter 4 and a baby boy on the way pretty much any day now.

Britney Spears refuses to care about what others think of her decision to marry Kevin Federline after just three months of dating.

The star fell in love with the dancer after claiming to have "kissed a lot of frogs," and has compared her relationship with former beau Justin Timberlake as "practice" for experiencing the real thing with Federline.

Spears, 22, says, "This is my life and I don't care what other people think. I love this guy.

"I knew the instant I met him that he was the one for me.

"I wish other people have what I have. I've kissed a lot of frogs in my life and now I have my prince. I've found my happily ever after.

"My other loves were like puppy dogs. They were practice for the real thing. I'm feeling everything. I'm excited. Elated. Happy."

Spears says of her 55-hour-long Las Vegas marriage to Jason Alexander earlier this year, "I had no idea it would become that big a deal. That thing was a total 'ugh.'

"I was not in love at all. It was my friend from home and we got crazy in Vegas. So marrying Kevin was the last thing I was thinking about doing.

"But then I said: 'You know what? This is my life and I don't care what people think.'

"I'm going to get married. I'm in love with him."

Who's will last longer - J-Lo's marriage or Britney's?

Gosh that's a tough one.
