This is my first thread in Harry Potter section.

The question being out of Quirrel, Lockhart, Lupin, Mad-Eye and Umbridge who has been you favorite Defense against the Dark arts teacher?

(by the way mine is Mad-eye)

Lupin. Moody was cool, but Lupin had it all-heart, humor, powerful wizard ect.

Great first thread White Tiger.

Well its a tried and tested idea for a thread, if you remember I did about three for Tolkien section.

I liked Lupin but Moody was, as you said, cool but I also found somethings he did and said funny. Lupin is a nice guy (except with Umbridge) and Moody is paranoid, which makes him funny

I do love Moody too. He is a nut, but he loves to rile the death eaters who are supposedly on the right side now. Very funny.

Lupin just has a tender heart and I love this character.

The next question you would ask of the books would be what is the next DADA Teacher going to be like. Are they going to be like lupin or Moody, or useless like Lockhart, or treat the class like 5 year olds (umbridge) or something completely different.

Of course we don't know untill the book comes out but it will be fun to find out.

Given that Voldemort is back, I think we will see a competent teacher. The kids need to learn defense.

But the thing is finding a teacher. No one wants to do the job remember, except Snape. Who knows it could be Kingsley Shaklebot (is that right) or God forbid Tonks or even one of the elder Weasleys.

There have been rumors that Mrs. Weasley will teach. She was head girl in her day. Tonks would be bad. I don't think she is that good of an auror. I would love to see the real Moody take over the job.

I think the real Moody would scare the students too much. If Arthur didn't love muggles too much it could have been him. Perhaps Bill or Charlie could do the job, I mean Charlie works with dragons and Bill had to deal with loads of curses and things for Gringots, they should be quallified.

Bill is the better candidate. He was head boy and is very smart. OH imagine if it is Percy.

Percey would do everything by the book, he would probably become the ext Professer Binns type character, boring lessons and all that.

What about Mundungus or even the mysterious Alberforth Dumbledore.

Mundungus is busy spying for the order and he is not trustworthy enough for the job. Alberforth is antisocial and Dumbledore does not know if he can even read.

I loved Mad-Eye, until I found out that it wasn't him, but Crouch Jr.

I think that Harry did an awesome job teaching the kids DADA, back in book 5.
They all really listened to him, and learned a lot from him. He is knowledgeable, and teaches well.

Harry did a good job but he wasn't a teacher, just incharge of the group.

(by the way I am only on chapter nineteen of the Order of the Pheonix so don't say too much yet). I recon the next DADA Teacher will probably be from the Order but you wont know until it happens

Oh, I KNOW that he's not a teacher... but he was a teacher to them, when they were in that room, and learning. If I teach someone how to use a computer, I am teaching them. That's why I say that he was teaching it well.

So he was more of a Tutor to them then.

My favorite is Lupin. He knew what he was doing. And he taught Harry expecto patronum, which, in my opinion, is the most important thing Harry has learned so far.

I think Harry was a more competent teacher than Lockhart was.

Oh and he was competant than Umbridge, you learn more by doing than you do by reading. Lockhart was funny at times but he knew nothing.
