Palestinian metal workshops have been hit by Israel before

Two people, one of them a young child, were killed and at least nine others were wounded Monday morning, when four Qassam rockets landed on the southern town of Sderot.

The fatilities were identified as Mordechai Yosopov, 49, and four-year-old Afik Zahavi, whose mother, Ruthie, was seriously wounded in the attack.

According to emergency services, one of the rockets landed just meters from the man, killing him on the spot.

Yosopov will be laid to rest at 5 P.M. Monday at the Sderot cemetery. Afik Zahavi's funeral will take place an hour later at the cemetery.

Since the start of the intifada in September 2000, 347 Qassam rockets have been fired at Israeli targets, of which 265 have landed within the Green Line.

The wounded were rushed to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva, where surgeons battled in vain to save the life of the four-year-old boy.

"There was a huge boom. I was very frightened and ran away," said 18-year-old Chen Smadja, who was on her way to a nearby high school.

"Who is watching over [our children]? Nobody. That's my
message to the prime minister," said Yitzhak Ohayon, father of Afik.

"We were supposed to go to his end-of-year party in kindergarten tomorrow... and now instead we'll be going to his funeral."

One of the rockets - fired by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip - landed close to a kindergarten in the Neveh Eshkol neighborhood, and the second hit a nearby coffeeshop. The rockets landed just a kilometer from Sharon's private ranch.

Two Israelis are killed by Palestinians firing rockets into their homes.

The attack came on Monday a few hours after Israeli helicopter gunships attacked the Hay Al-Zaytun neighbourhood in central Gaza, destroying a foundry and injuring some Palestinian civilians.

Im not justifying it at all. When the Palestinians are attacked, they are going to attack back.

I understand, it's not justified but it still has your blessing. Nevermind the militants were in that neighborhood planning on bombing Israel at the time though huh?

How dare Israel defend themselves.

My blessing? I never said that i enjoy it when civilians are killed.

Israeli soldiers = Yes

Israeli civilians = No

Is your brain working properly enough to know the difference?

Ok I see. So we're suppose to believe that you hate it when a militant..I mean "freedom fighter" gets killed but the fact that they are killing Israeli civilians suddenly spurs compassion in your heart and soul.

That and about 25 cent might get you a cup of 8oz coffee.

Two Palestinians, Ashraf Al Sabagh, 36, and Mohammad Al Shorbagi, 15, were killed yesterday evening when Israeli forces fired from outposts of the Neve Dkalim settlement into An Nim Sawiy neighbourhood of Khan Younis.

Medics at the Naser hospital said others were injured when Israeli forces fired randomly at An Nim Sawiy houses for a half hour period. Tanks and apaches also moved into Al Amal. Four people remain in serious conditions in the hospital.

The incident took place shortly after a Palestinian operation against an Israeli military outpost killed one soldier and injured many more at the Gush Katif junction.

Following the explosion at the military outpost the Israeli forces imposed a complete closure of the roads through Gaza and shot dead fifty year old Mousleh Abid Al Aal waiting at the Abu Holi checkpoint. 16 year old Tariq Abu Sararr was also shot and seriously injured.

Palestinian groups in Gaza claimed responsibility for the attack as reprisal for the assassinations of seven Palestinians in the West Bank city of Nablus on Saturday.

Large forces moved into the city of Nablus on Wednesday evening in one of the Israeli army’s biggest operations for months. Troops sealed off the oldest part of the city, the casbah, and carried out house-to-house searches.

On Saturday morning Palestinian medics reported that seven Palestinian leaders and another man from Fatah’s al Aqsa brigades had been killed.

Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz said even though the troops had temporarily withdrawn from the city, the operation was set to continue for several weeks. He also stated that the policy of targeted assassinations of Palestinian leaders would continue to be pursued along with the construction of the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank.

Following last nights events Palestinians in Gaza remain fearful they will face yet more violent incursions on the scale of last months “operation rainbow” which saw 62 Palestinians killed and hundreds injured.

The continuing cycle of violence is a clear indicator of the false nature of Sharon’s “withdrawal” plan. The only consequence of his policies so far has been the utter abandonment of the US sponsored Road Map.
