Explosion wounds about 30 soldiers in Gush Katif

An explosion at an IDF position in Gush Katif Sunday night wounded several soldiers, military sources said.

The explosion occured inside, or underneath the IDF's Geffen position at the entrance to Gush Katif on the Kissufim crossing. Israel Radio said the explosion was very large.

Fatah Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades have taken responsibility for the attack, saying they had blown up the position from underneath.

It is still unclear whether the explosion was caused by a car bombing or by explosives placed underneath the position. Several months ago, IDF forces thwarted an attempted bombing of an IDF position in the area. The terrorists packed explosives into a tunnel they had dug underneath the IDF post.

The Geffen position is located near the Palestinian Flour Plant.

There are about thirty casualties at the scene, Yitzhak Al-Fasi, a MDA spokesman said. The wounded are being evacuated to Beer Sheba's Soroka Hospital. Only bullet proofed ambulances are being allowed into the area.

IDF and rescue forces are heading to the area in large numbers.

MDA said its ambulances were not being allowed into the area as a gun battle was taking place at the scene. Israel Radio reported a heavy exchange of fire between Palestinians and IDF forces in the area, hampering efforts to rescue wounded soldiers. Mortars are also being fired at forces in the area.

MDA also said that some soldiers may be trapped underneath a collapsed structure, possible a lookout position.

Gaza Strip Regional Council head Avner Shimoni, who was close to the site, told Israel the incident was "very serious". Shimoni said Gaza residents have been told to stay indoors.

Not one soldier died.

1 Soldier died and 5 other Soldiers where wounded.

Beautiful.

Only someone with a twisted mind would celebrate death as something "Beautiful".

So what happens now when Israel retaliates? Will it be the same old thing from you saying they are aggressors and terrorists?
