| i won't be vain and impulsive enough to attribute this to the coalition's efforts but....it is a bit of a coincidence isn't it?
especially strange because about a month ago i told one of my friends, admittedly with lots of uncertainty, that 'after the u.s moves into iraq, n. korea will probably quieten down.'
and here we are, suddenly they want to engage in peace talks concerning their weapons program.
and the possible formation of a palestinian state? did that just spring up randomly?
if both of these situations develop and indeed instigate solid, diplomatic relations between n.korea and the u.s regarding their weapons program, and also jump start the peace process between the israeli/palestinian states, then what? will this effort have been worth it?
not that i support the israelis, but i would like to point out that people there are no longer wearing gas masks to work.
i'am sure we would all like to see the israelis leave the palestinians alone, but if hussein had attacked israel, then what? now we have a tyrant who's not only destroying his only people, but his neighbours.
i'am sure some of you may ask, would i then support hussein in his war against the israelis to liberate the palestinians? the answer is no. never in a million years, because hussein and the regime are completely incapable. they may have deceived millions of iraqis over 20 years and have a 'knack' for gassing their own, but if hussein began a campaign against israel, that's when we'd really have something to worry about.
take a look at http://english.pravda.ru/main/2002/04/08/27433.html
note how he stopped the oil for food program. he still gets the money, but his citizens get nothing from the resources they have established. and that was a result of 'u.s and u.k sanctions?'
it has been proven that the israeli/palestinian conflict has the potential to be solved peacefully. if hussein was in power, what kind of peace would prevail? | |
