| Posted by: fuscia | | Mr. Ollivander appears to be quite old, yet he remembers every single wand he has ever sold. How can he do this? Hold old is he? How many years of use do most wands provide? Didn't he say that it seemed like only yesterday that James and Lily were buying their first wands?
Thread open to wands and to talk of Mr. Ollivander. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | He's a very intelligent wizard. He has the gift to remember every wand sold, to whom, and what they each contained. And you're right... he did make that comment about "only yesterday"
I don't think that he will ever play a "big" part in HP though.... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: peregr!n | | I think some people may have more than one wand...they are bound to get broken, like if they are in peoples pockets whilst playing Quidditch. | | Reply To this Message

Oh yeah, I guess that there has to be the opportunity to get another wand.

| Posted by: daemon17 | | no its an interesting point tho.. i mean how many wands did harrys parents have and could that have affected anything we've read about? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | It does make you wonder, since Ollivander said their "first" wands. I would assume that they each had a second wand. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: White Tiger | | I wonder what he knows that other people dont.
I just get the impression that Ollivander is not telling all that he knows, like he is hiding something. I get that impression with Dumbledore and Arthur Weasley as well but they have obvious reasons to retain the truth. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | Yes, I suspect Mr. Weasley is just as important as Dumbledore in all of this. Mr Ollivander may know something, but I don't think it will be as important as what DD and Arthur know. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | I think it's because they are people who are privy to certain information...
Ollivander knows what each wand is that has been sold, and what "powers" they would be used for. After so many years, I'm sure that he knows things just by the wand that ends up leaving with the witch or wizard. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | Does anyone know anything about Hermione's wand? I don't remember it being described. We already know about Harry's and Ron's. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | You know... to my best of knowledge, at 6am, and just waking up a few minutes ago, I'm going to say that I can't remember anything about her wand ever being mentioned. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: peregr!n | | Neither can I....maybe she has a powerful wand core that will be important later in the book or something... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | Maybe, but I think Hermione's brain is what is going to be most important to the war. | | Reply To this Message

It may be that he knows just as much or more but there is no reason for him to give that information out. Whatever side wins they will need a wand maker | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: White Tiger | | really? how about at the wand weighting ceremony when Ollivander says about never using Veela hair in wands, or about plucking the unicorn hair for Cedrics wand, or about never having the same styling of wand making as Gregorovitch. | | Reply To this Message
