| IDF kills armed Palestinian during arrest raid in Nablus

Israel Defense Forces troops shot to death an armed Palestinian on Wednesday in Nablus as they were arresting the head of the Islamic Jihad military wing in the West Bank city.
Troops arrested Muhanad Mahmoud Mohammed Abu Aisha, a senior Islamic Jihad field commander in Nablus and an explosive expert.
During the arrest operation troops shot and killed one of Abu Aisha's assistants, Shadi Khaled Mahmoud Salim, when he attempted to pull out a handgun and fire at the soldiers.
In the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian man died of wounds sustained during an IDF operation Tuesday in the northern town of Beit Hanun. The man was identified as Ibrahim Abu Sa'ada.
On Tuesday, two other Palestinians were killed in Beit Hanun.
The IDF was continuing to operate in northern Gaza on Wednesday in an attempt to put a halt to the firing of rockets and mortar shells at Israeli neighborhoods from the Strip.
Also Wednesday, a bomb exploded near IDF troops along the Gaza-Egypt border, Army Radio reported. There were no injuries.
The Palestinians killed Tuesday were Haled Shinbari, 18, and Ibrahim Salha, 21, both residents of Beit Hanun. They were killed when an IDF force accompanied by armor and bulldozers raided the town, and destroyed groves and side roads that have been used by militants firing Qassam rockets into Israel.
During the operation, an exchange of gunfire took place with armed militants.
Meanwhile, clashes continued Tuesday between security forces and Palestinians protesting the construction of the security fence close to the West Bank village of Azzawiya, near the Alei Zahav settlement.
Some 20 demonstrators were injured from smoke inhalation during the demonstration.
