Thai worker killed in infiltration attempt at Gaza settlement

By Nir Hasson, Haaretz Correspondent, and Haaretz Service

A foreign worker from Thailand died Monday afternoon of wounds sustained earlier in the day when a mortar was fired at the Kfar Darom settlement in the Gaza Strip during an infiltration attempt by Palestinian militants.

The man was hit in the chest by shrapnel from the mortar, as he worked in a greenhouse in the central Gaza settlement.

The man was taken to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, after receiving emergency treatment at the scene.

IDF troops at the scene continued to exchange fire with the attacker after the wounded man had been evacuated.

Two Palestinian workers were moderately wounded by the return fire, Palestinians sources said. The workers received hospital treatement, medical workers said.

Palestinian sources said a group of militants had fired submachine guns and anti-tank missiles toward the greenhouses. They said Israel Defense Forces troops returned fire, hitting two Palestinian workers who live nearby.

Troops using helicopters and tracker dogs searched the area for the gunmen, residents said. They also closed the main road in the area.

This report failed to include :

Al-Aqsa Society for reconstructing the Islamic holy sites warned Sunday against the continuation of provocative practices launched by Israeli right-wing mobs inside and around al-Aqsa mosque.

In its statement, the Society said “furthering such actions reiterate the pre-planned intention of such mobs, backed by an Israeli political decision, for violating the sanctuary of the holy mosque."

The warning came days after a mob of Israeli activists from “National Union” party declared Sunday its plan to storm al-Aqsa mosque under the pretext of confirming the Jewish sovereignty over it. (Albawaba.com)

Which would explain why there was a Militant presence in the area.

Oh, well that explains it then. I guess this justifies the mortar shots into Jewish settlements.

What I find funny is this. Whenever something happens with an Israeli terrorists want to shoot at any jew in sight, yet when Israel comes into their territory for a suicide bomber they scream unfair collective punishment.
