"I Will Carry You" to Be Next Single


AllAccess is reporting that Clay’s next single to radio, "I Will Carry You," will go for adds on the Hot/Modern/Mainstream AC radio formats on July 12, and on the CHR/Pop format on July 13! The timing of the song’s release allows Clay to announce and promote IWCY as his next single during his appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Good Morning America. Clay also will be able to promote the single during his tour and the inevitable visits with local radio stations. Going by comments made by Clay last year, it seems that IWCY has long been a favorite of the RCA execs responsible for choosing the next single. Also, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that IWCY receives a positive reaction from males, and from casual (non-fan) listeners. If that is representative of the general listening audience, then IWCY is really an excellent choice for Clay’s next single, and its selection bodes well for increased sales and radio play.

So what should we be doing in preparation? Well, as a first step, you can check to see if your local radio station has a music feedback panel -- check their website -- if they do, sign up! That will allow you to give positive feedback when they list Clay's songs (make sure you rate other songs as well). Then, one of the most important things you can do is listen -- tune in to your local CHR/Pop, AC and Hot AC stations, especially in the evenings. Check their websites on occasion, too. If any station features IWCY in a "Hit or Miss"/"Pump It or Dump It"/"Hit Election" type of contest, be sure to call in and register your feedback. IWCY is likely to see test spins in a few markets starting in late June/early July (typically starting out in the evening or late night shifts). If you hear the song, call into your radio station to let them know you like it, and give them positive feedback!

For now it is probably best to hold off on requests -- during the first week or two we can hope that RCA will do its part to promote the single and it will be added to a number of station playlists. That doesn't mean you can't call and ask about IWCY if he sings it during one of his television appearances, but past experience has shown that many stations don't even have songs before their official release. If/when a radio station sees fit to add IWCY to its playlist, requests from its local listeners will be appropriate, but we don't want to give the appearance of a campaign. In the meantime, there’s plenty to be excited about--we’ll soon have a new reason to listen for Clay on our radios!

I really love "perfect day" and "shine", but I'm not really as fond of "I will carry you" sorry but it just doesnt appeal to me as well as the other two.

IWCY does show off his voice a little more then Shine or some of his other songs...and when they are looking for a new single they have to pick one that shows off his voice....

He has a christmas album coming out and ruben is also recording a chritmas album, i think it's coming out october something, i not really sure.

Well, it isn't very cloudy here, but I'm wierd, cause I like haven't been out at all this summer, so I'm still like totally white, I haven't been to the poop yet, but I think that next week I will be going with my boyfriend, and I think that he might kiss me! although I really don't like him to very much, like I called him today, and his sister was on the other line and he was supposed to call me back, but he never did. Anyways, back onto the subject.
