80's what you did for fun |
| Posted by: fuscia | | What did you do for fun in the 80's.
In Jr. High it was Atari, going to Family Fun Center to play mini golf and video games, going to the beach with my church group, and rollerskating at a rink.
High School-dollar movies, hanging out at Roundtable pizza with friends, TPing houses, cruising, poker and beer parties, band trips. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Whidden | | There was an area of woods about 20 minutes out of town that was about 15 x 15 miles sqaure.
It was full of Swamps and Pine Islands. The roads were of what we called sugar sand. Like the sand you find at the beach.
We took our 4x4 out there and camped. Went though mud holes in our trucks, pulled each other out if we got stuck.
Had a lot of good times out there.
I also had a boat. It was a 16 foot row boat with a 5 horsepower motor. We lived on a canal that led into a river that was two miles wide. The river flowed from Lake Okachobee into the gulf of mexico.
I would take my boat out into the river and explore all the Islands out there.
I had my boom box and would listen to the hits, while I motored around. I remember listening to Drive by the cars, and Born in the USA by Bruce Sprinstien.
Whiddens getting nostalgic again!
Here is my brother James walking though the swamp when it was real dry. | | Reply To this Message

Original post said that my dad was a metal smith who worked on some of the first f-14s that needed repairs. He also worked on jet proto types in WWII. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Nope. He did not tell us what he really did in the war. He said he was a paratrooper, so after he passed away we sent for the records. My sister got a call from Washinton asking what she wanted to know out of his war file. He could not tell her on the phone so he sent her the records. The records were classified, but because a certain date had passed, they were able to release them to us. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | I would run and hide Dave. Run and hide.
Deleting my own post on accident is the worst I have done. Never done that to a member.

| Posted by: Whidden | | I miss it. I miss the 80's.
Not going through a mid life crisis, I am happy enough and have things to look forward to.
But I miss ZE OLD DAYS.
I may go on trip to Florida in October. You cant recreate the past, but I figure this trip I will save a bunch of 80's tunes on cd and play them when we pull into Fort Myers.
My old row boat is down there, I may take it out for a spin on the river. | | Reply To this Message
