| Posted by: HECK! | | Who is your favorite superhero team?
For me it's easy- The Avengers . Not the West Coast Avengers (or Great Lakes Avengers for you comic freaks).
And I like a particular line-up too: Captain America (of course), Iron Man, Thor, Vision, Yellow Jacket (or Ant Man, as long as it's Hank Pym), Scarlet Witch (only if Vision is there), Sub Mariner, Black Panther, and Hawkeye. Kind of a big squad, but those guys rocked.
I also liked The New Warriors (when they first started out, not when they got lame) and the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Some might say the Justice League is better, I don't think so. Any team with Superman is lame. He can do everything the team can and better.

I know VERY LITTLE about the Black Panther. In fact, I know only a little about most of the Avengers, save Iron Man, Cap &Thor, as well as a bit about Ant Man and Namor the Sub-Mariner. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Sierradaddy | | My all-time favorite is the X-Men. It doesn't matter what team was assembled; I liked them ALL.
Storm, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Longshot, Rogue, Colossus, Wolverine, Psylocke, Banshee, Prof. X, Thunderbird, Forge for a minute, Cyclops, Angel, Beast, Jean Grey, Iceman, and everyone else. Even Gambit, whose personality never really meshed with me, but I liked his character styling. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Jeezus | | I'm in a toss up with the X-men, and The Justice League.
However I saw a team that I think put them both to shame. I don't remember if it was in a "What If" comic, or if it happed at the time that Onslaught was changing the whole Marvel Universe, but my fav team was:
THE NEW FANTASTIC FOUR.
The pepole involved was:
Spiderman
The Hulk
Ghost Rider
and Wolverine.
That was an awsome line-up in my opinion. | | Reply To this Message

Jeezus, freakin' nice call. Actually, they came together in one Fantastic Four comic, it wasn't a What If. They were built as the 'new' FF. Great issue. Nice pull.

Vision was built by Ultron to battle the Avengers, but he rebelled and joined the team. He is also Wonder Man's 'brother'.
Black Panther was the king of an African country called Wakanda. He is this scientist who built a crazy suit that gives him panther-like abilites. And he has this connection to a panther god.
Ant Man's real name in Hank Pym. He also went by Giant Man, Yellowjacket, and Goliath.

| Posted by: Jeezus | | Mutants in general Kick seriosus Glutius Maximus. another cool team is "The Brotherhood". Just becuase they are evil doesn't make them not a good team. (and i know they aren't superHEROES, and really shouldn't be in this thread, but i still like them) | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | The X-Men were just played out to me. I've always stuck with the Avengers. Maybe the stories weren't as good, but they had that old school quality.

| Posted by: Sierradaddy | | Yes, Avengers do have that old school quality. They're a cool team. Who was the black girl, the Wasp? Is that right?
I've always thought that to me, the X-Men are basically the most popular ambassadors for the mutant storyline. I really LOVE the idea of mutants. I was right around the age when mutant abilities would've manifested in the comics, so I was always fantasizing about what powers I'd want to have as a mutant. Got my imagination going like no other comic could. They always dealt with unrealistic, statistically impossible phenomena that cause superheroes to be born, but the mutant idea shows (especially in one comic where it's revealed that EVERYONE carries the x-factor gene...) that superheroism not only takes many forms, but could be a part of anyone. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | SD, I think you have a joke in there somewhere, Wasp being black.... (like a WASP). If not...
To the best of my knowledge, the only black woman on the Avengers was Captain Marvel. Mid to late-80's addition. Nothing special. Wasp was a white lady, named Janet Van Dyne, married fellow Avengers founding member Hank Pym, a.k.a. Ant Man, Giant Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket.
The thing about the Avengers was that they weren't mutants... for the most part. X-Men's Beast took a break and joined the Avengers for a year or so.
And that was the cool thing about the Avengers... almost anyone could join up. Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and the Thing were all Avengers for about 6 issues. Gods like Thor and Hercules were longtime members. Even temporarily reformed criminals like the Sandman joined the team. Hell, even Spiderman accepted a brief membership.
That, to me, was really interesting. You never knew who would be on the team next.

| Posted by: Sierradaddy | | Not bad. I guess they've been around for quite a long time... 1963, I believe?
About the wasp, I remember her now. I think I might have been referring to Yellowjacket the female. I think she might have been black, or latina. I think she even headed up the team for a little bit, while Cap was away or something. I can't remember the battle, but it also included Wonderman after he'd died the first time and was ressurected somehow. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | Yellowjacket 2 wasn't black, possible latina, her name was Rita DeMara. I don't know if she ever headed the team... unless everyone was in a coma or something. But you never know. I remember she joined the Guardians Of The Galaxy in the 31st century. But when she came back, Iron Man killed her.

| Posted by: coshawn jenkins | | or it could be Power Man & Iron Fist .
I mean c-mon a big super strong black dude with steel hard skin and an attitude , plus a martial arts master who can transform his fist unto a thing like iron ?!?! plus he's (iron fist) rich. How can you not like 'em , like the superhero version of Lethal Weapon. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Wire-Walker | | My favorite team is the DOOM PATROL. The reason is because it had an innovative idea at that time, that is, the idea of superpowers making somebody into Not a hero but rather a FREAK. For example, Negative Man's radio-active body made him dangerous to everybody else, so he was SHUNNED by normal people.
The DOOM PATROL'S idea of a superpowered person getting shunned and persecuted actually PRE-dates before the debut of the X-MEN, so the X-MEN are NOT the first to use that idea.
But I also love the X-MEN for the same reason, and consider the first Patrick Stewart movie as the best of the superhero books adapted for the cinema.
My admiration for the X-MEN film has brought me back to the X-MEN books again. So I guess it's a toss-up between X-MEN and the DOOM PATROL. But I have to say that the reason why I like the X-MEN is BECAUSE of my love for the DOOM PATROL. | | Reply To this Message
