What things did you have to own in the 80's?

Torn, tight jeans

Muscle tops (no sleeves)

Leather jacket

Big band style hair

A boyfriend with really long hair

Big sunglasses, OP shorts, velcro shoes, Spuds McKenzie toy.

I always had to have sunglasses. My entire senior class voted me most like to own the Ray Ban corp. someday, because I never went anywhere without my sunglasses on, even at night.

I had to have a ton of Izod shirts

earlly 80's it was Jordache jeans

In Jr. High, all the girls wore these roach clips with feathers on them. We had NO idea what they were really for-we put them in our hair.

Sherry... you were SO naive. I had plenty of 'em, and I used them all, many times.

Yes, I was totally naive in seventh grade.

Who else had to have a Rubic's cube?

Had some many of those different cubes. My brother and I solved them all.

When I was a kid, my dad bet me I couldn't line up all the colors. So I took off the stickers and rearranged them.

I had to have the jelly shoes, the see through Hello Kitty purse.
Swatch watches were totally hot then.

It was my duty in life to own a record player/cassete deck, and to have the biggest speakers I could get.

I went to walmart one day, and there were two giant speakers. They had been returned and were on sale, so I could afford them.

I got them, took them home and made my parents give me a speech about the effects of loud rock music on the ear drum, after I cranked it up with the 1984 album.

I had to have my Sony Walkman. I would go to the beach, wear a string bikini and take long walks with my tunes.

I also played Hot for Teacher on my new speakers. Mom came in and said that the music was dischordant.

This somehow made it wrong.


I think I said this in the other thread awhile back, but my dad had a a.m. radio in this truck with chump speakers. I was like, how can anyone drive around with low life sound like that?!?!?!


Back then, I had to have the sound cranked. I was always getting some audio extras to enhance the sound.

I had the see through Hello Kitty Purse-yes they were very popular my freshman year in high school.

I wore leg warmers! I was only in elementary school though! I can blame my mom for dressing me.
