EMINEM : MY LIFE IS A 'NIGHTMARE'

Rapper Eminem brands his glamorous lifestyle a "nightmare" and yearns to be an anonymous hip-hop artist.

The star -- real name Marshall Mathers -- resents the loss of freedom his fame and money have caused and wishes he could live a mundane but normal existence.

The 31-year-old complains, "All I really wanted was a career in hip-hop.

"But you've gotta be careful what you wish for, as it's almost turning into more of a nightmare than a dream. I miss going to the park and playing basketball.

"I was never that person that wanted the big cars. I don't like having security hold my hand to walk out to my mailbox. There's something inside of me that refuses to believe I can't walk down the street or be as normal as I want to be."

Poor diddums. All he really wanted was a career in hop hop and now that he has it, he wants to go back to being anonymous. Make up your mind.

Hmm... Eminem is quite big. I mean, if I saw him walking down the street, I personally couldn't give a hoot, but when you're that famous, there's always some idiot either out to start a fight with you cause they can, or out to get on their knees and treat you. Then, there's what the WOMEN would do for you

I can't really feel sorry for him, though, I'm sure the money's a good compensation. I mean, just build your own park in your large estate and invite friends over to play. It's kinda simple, really.

Rapper Eminem Yearns for Less Fame

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rap star Eminem says in an interview released on Friday that fame makes him feel like he is living in a cage and that he never knows whether a woman is interested in him or in his success.

In an interview to be published in the December issue of Vanity Fair, Eminem said he could live without his huge fame.

"I would take it back to where I made a comfortable living. To where I would just make music, have people appreciate it, even if it's a few people who appreciate it, and be able to walk to a mall, walk to a store.

"When you get fame and fortune and you make something of your life and become successful ... But (there is a) whole new slew of problems that I never expected that come along with it," he said, adding:

"Sometimes I battle with these demons that make me say in my head, 'I'm not going to be locked in a ... cage, I'm .... gonna walk in this place and I'm not going to sign any autographs."

As for women, the rapper said, "Do they truly, genuinely love me for me? The reason they're approaching me is because I'm Eminem. And I will never be able to get over that insecurity ... Does this person care about me for me, or is it too late in the game now? Because I have money, I have fame, and I'm who I am."

Asked if he had considered dating a fellow-celebrity, Eminem said, "Tried that, that didn't work. I've dated a few famous women and gone that route thinking that would work, and they ended up being crazier than I am."
