NEW YORK (AP) - Pop princess Britney Spears injured her knee during a video shoot and was hospitalized for arthroscopic surgery, her record label said Wednesday.
Spears, 22, was taken to a hospital after hurting herself late Tuesday, Jive Records said in a statement. An MRI showed floating cartilage in her knee.
The injury occurred after Spears completed outdoor scenes for the video of her new single, "Outrageous," with rapper Snoop Dogg in the New York City borough of Queens. Spears was doing choreography when her knee gave out, Jive said.
"Outrageous" will be featured in the movie "Catwoman," due out next month.
Spears is scheduled to begin a North American tour June 22 in Hartford, Conn., according to her Web site. Her latest album, "In the Zone," was released in November.
Spears was forced to cancel two shows in March because of a knee injury. |
I'd say she didn't let it heal properly after she twisted it in March. She had been saying she was having problems with it in the cold or something since then? Arthoscopic surgery isn't too bad as far as surgery goes, but she will probably be off for a while. Wonder what this means for the tour? And the Video?

Spears was in Queens, New York, shooting a video for her next single, "Outrageous," the theme to the upcoming "Catwoman" movie, and had just completed scenes with guest star Snoop Dogg when she injured her knee around 11:30 p.m.
While doing some choreography, her knee gave out and she crashed to the ground. Spears was rushed to a hospital, where she received an MRI scan. Doctors determined that the singer had floating cartilage in her knee, and she underwent arthroscopic surgery, according to her spokesperson.
There's no word yet what type of rehabilitation Spears will require for the injury, how long it will delay the completion of the video shoot, or how it will impact the resumption of her North American tour, which is scheduled to begin June 22 in Hartford, Connecticut.
The common prognosis for recovery from surgical arthroscopy is a two-to-three-week recovery, but obviously that prognosis does not take into account the kind of dancing Spears' live set requires. Her camp expects details in a few days.
In March the singer postponed two shows because of a knee injury suffered onstage, and four years ago Spears underwent surgery after twisting her knee during a dance rehearsal. | | Reply To this Message

Britney Spears has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery after a bad fall during the shoot her new music video in New York.
The pop princess now fears the injury will jeopardize the start of the North American leg of her Onyx Hotel tour -- which kicks off in just two weeks time.
Britney took a tumble on Tuesday just after finishing a scene with rapper Snoop Dogg on the Manhattan set of the video for her new single, "Outrageous."
An insider says, "She said she couldn't get up. Her bodyguard scooped her up in his arms and took her to the hospital.
"She is in agony and scared she's done lasting damage to her knee."
A source at her record company Jive confirms, "She obviously took a wrong step and blew out her knee. It was an old dance injury," but could offer no information on the outcome of the operation.
Britney was immediately rushed to a local hospital where doctors performed a scan and discovered floating cartilage in her knee.
It is the third time Britney has injured her knee. Four years ago she underwent surgery after twisting her knee during a dance rehearsal and she had to cancel some concert dates earlier this year after injuring herself while performing in Illinois.
Having wrapped up the European dates of her tour, Britney is due to take to the stage in Hartford, Conn., on June 22. | | Reply To this Message

The singer slipped up on a wet pavement while filming the video for her new single Outrageous with US rapper Snoop Dog in New York.
After being rushed to hospital, an MRI scan confirmed the 22--year-old singer had floating cartilage in her knee.
Although doctors allowed her home, they have ordered rest until she can get further advice from experts.
It is the second time the star has hurt her knee joint.
She was forced to cancel two shows in March after injuring her knee during dance routines, Now there is a fear that she will be less than mobile for her forthcoming tour of North America which begins on June 22.

BRITNEY SPEARS cuts a sorry figure as she is helped into her apartment by her massive minder following the tumble which injured her knee.
Boyfriend KEVIN FEDERLINE was on hand to help too but in my picture he is blotted out by Brit’s man mountain.
The singer fell in New York while making the video for new song Outrageous and needed keyhole surgery on her cartilage.
Now docs have ordered her to rest with her feet up at home in the Big Apple until she has recovered.
I’m sure Kevin will be at her beck and call through her recuperation. | | Reply To this Message

Britney Spears won't be gyrating in revealing outfits this summer -- at least not on stage.
The pop star canceled her summer tour Tuesday because of a knee injury she suffered last week during a video shoot with Snoop Dogg in New York for her new song "Outrageous." Her knee gave out during the choreography, and afterward, she underwent arthroscopic surgery.
As a result, she'll be wearing a hard brace for six weeks and will require at least two months of rehabilitation, according to a statement from her label, Jive Records.
Spears was scheduled to begin the summer leg of her North American tour, which featured plenty of choreographed dance numbers, June 22. She was set to perform Aug. 7 at Irvine's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Tickets should be returned to the point of purchase for refunds. Spears last appeared locally March 8 at Staples Center.
This isn't Spears' first injury. The 22-year-old was forced to cancel two shows in March because of a problem with her knee.
Her latest album, "In the Zone," was released in November and has sold more than 2.6 million copies. | | Reply To this Message

http://www.channel955.com/timages/page/brit-brace.jpg
Yesterday we saw pics of Britney Spears on a Hawaii beach, with her man Kevin Federline. But the one thing missing from the picture: a knee brace! Now a quote, taken out of the official record label press release which was put out on June 15th:
| quote: |
| 'Ms. Spears will be immobile for six (6) weeks, with her knee in a hard brace. This will be followed by a minimum of 8-12 weeks of rehabilitation.' |
Problem is, it’s been 3 weeks since that press release was issued, and probably 10 days since she wore no cast/brace at all. So what was the REAL reason she cancelled her tour? She's apparently supposed to be immobile for 6 weeks but isn't. She takes a vacation to spend time with Kevin in Hawaii - and in most fan's mind, 'We've been fooled and slapped in the face'. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | I think if you're going to cancel the tour to fart around with your new boyfriend then say that. There's no point in making up excuses and saying it's because you hurt yourself or whatever. She's only going to alienate her fans more by lying. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | ARNOLD TALKS OF SPEARS' BIZARRE FALL
BRITNEY SPEARS once laid out in the hallway of her apartment building for hours and hours, refusing the help of passers-by, according to former neighbour TOM ARNOLD.
Arnold briefly lived in the same Los Angeles building as the TOXIC singer last year (04), and he was stunned when he stepped out of his condominium one day.
He says of Spears, "ED McMAHON always says he discovered her on STAR SEARCH, but I discovered her on the floor of the hallway when I tripped over her... I thought it was my wife who had passed out from shopping but it was (Britney).
"She was laying out flat and I said, 'Are you okay?' And she said, 'Yes sir.' And I said, 'Do you know who I am?' She said, 'Yes sir.' I said, 'Do you need some help?' She said, 'I'm locked out sir.' I said, 'I'll get security to let you in.' She said, 'No, sir, I'm fine.' It's when she had her knee hurt and she was heavily medicated. It looked like a lot of fun.
"I had to run upstairs. About a half-hour later I called my sister-in-law (and said,) 'Hey look in the hall and see if Britney's on the floor out there,' And she was!
"I tell you this is how sometimes women think. She was waiting for her boyfriend at the time, that KEVIN (FEDERLINE) guy to come home so he could see her and go, 'Oh, you fell! Okay, I'll help you up.' Now I would do that for like three minutes so my wife would feel sorry for me, but a woman will do that for hours."

Women certainly have the upper-hand when it comes to plotting and planning of ways to get back at our man for something
