I just got back from seeing it. It is now 1:15 in the morning.... I just want to say be prepared for something totally different from the other films. I mean right off the bat there are these crazy camera angles and stuff. I won’t say my favorite scenes because it will give the movie away. But the beginning was probably my favorite and the random bird that kept getting eaten by the tree.

okay, right off the bat (again ) people, read this:

Just saw it, you're right chodder... crazy camera angles and, at the beginning, erratic movements which I didn't really understand the point of until later in the movie. Great stuff.

I like Dumbledore and Hagrid trying to deter the attention of the MoM and Executioner... cracked me up as did a few other parts. The bird... well, kind've funny

oh, and the whomping willow in this movie - so much better than in the second one!

PS. Nothing looked like I expected it too especially towards the end weird eh?

I liked the animal-sounds-sweets scene. It was completely random but was a wonderful insight into the way the Gryffindor boys bond.

I don't like the new Dumbledore. He just isn't the same, know what I mean?

When I was watching it with people who had read the books they kept saying that nothing looked like they had imagined it to. But one kid said the candy store was just how he imagined it.

Yes, from all the pictures and previews, he just isn't Dumbledore.
But, he also knew this. Richard Harris will always be Dumbledore to us.
He is, however, stepping into the role, and trying to do his best.

That must be hard to step into the role of Dumbledore. Richard Harris was the perfect Dumbledore-soft-spoken, commanding, mischevious, and he had the perfect voice and that twinkle in his eye. He will always be Dumbledore to me, but I will try to accept the new one. Dang, I wish Ian McKellan had filled the role.

I think that it would have been MUCH easier to accept a new Dumbledore if it had been Sir Ian McKellan. He could have truly pulled it off. But, this new one, well, the look, and everything is just TOO different.

Sir Ian had that same twinkle in his eye. He would have been able to convey the love Dumbledore feels for Harry.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. He could have done a great job, and helped MANY of us who terribly miss Richard Harris, to feel good about his replacement.

I think he did not take the job because it would alienate all the die hard LOTR fans.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I can't see HOW that would happen. I mean, there is NO way that LotR fans would be pissed at him for that. His job as Gandalf is complete.

Trust me Kris, they would be very pissed off.

ok my absolute favorite scene was when harry flew the hippogriff no doubt about it. That was just georgous and amazing beyond belief. I didn't even know places like that existed. Also because I had been listening to the soundtrack I had a suspicion that that georgous orchestra music would be during that part. When the movie confirmed it I was definetly happy. I really didn't like the new dumbledore, I hate to say it but as he was talking in my head i kept trying to imagine how the old dumbledore would have said it. I know he's trying his hardest and honestly i pity him, because it must be a really hard thing to do.

That is what I am worried about. Richard Harris' Dumbledore is my all time favorite character. I just don't know if my heart can accept the new one.

I'm with you, Daemon... my favorite scene was with Harry and Buckbeak. I loved seeing him walk up and bowing, and then flying with him. When they went over the lake, and Harry put his arms out and was just filled with joy. I think that is about the happiest that I've seen him. It represented freedom, in a sense, for him.

I loved watching Harry produce a patronus. That was awesome....

Also, the DADA class with the boggart. That was pretty funny.

Harry and Buckbeak was a wonderful scene. You get to see Harry in a moment of pure joy. I enjoyed the scenes with Lupin and Harry. He did a great job as Lupin.

Hello everyone,

I didn't like Dumbledore in the beginnng, when he was delivering his speech in the Great Hall. But I thought, "he came back" when he said to Harry and Hermione (after they came back from releasing Sirius) something like "Done what? Good night!..."

Yes I like Lupin, he seems so fatherly towards Harry.

I like the little part when Ron was acting pitiful about his dog bite when he was with Hermione. That's so typically boyish and cute, lol.

Oh btw... is Harry's uncle supposed to know that Harry isn't allowed to do magic outside of school??

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Yes, they know that he's not allowed to do magic, because a letter arrived, by owl, before the start of his second year, and Vernon read the letter.

sugarxspice79, welcome to the forum.

I loved those opening scenes with Harry under the blanket working on a spell. It was very cute and very funny.

I loved the scene where the boys are in their dormatory eating candy. It was nice to see Harry having some fun with his friends for a change.

Yes, that was a great scene... with the 5 boys eating candy, making the animal noises, and genuinely laughing. I like to see that for Harry. He doesn't have enough laughter in his life.

yea i liked the idea of the scene a lot, but i didnt like how the dormitory looked really messy. I remember in one of the movies im almost positive it was the first one, where harry is sitting in that window, and i think everything around him looked much cleaner and organized, they way everything was just kinda thrown madei t look i dno, like they were pigs. but it was really good to see them laughing

I liked when Harry was flying on the bird (Griffin thing) and it skimmed the water with it's talon. That was really cool.

Yes and you saw the reflection of Harry riding Buckbeak. I also loved how Hagrid just put Harry on the Hippogriff.

i hope hogwarts, on the inside, looks a bit homelier in the 4th movie tho, like it did in the 1st and 2nd. It was just too creepy in this movie, and maybe they'll clean it up a bit so it doesnt look so grimy also chodder, did you just say you hate dobby?

dont mess with the house elf.

Any scene with the dementors was great in my opinion. My favorite was when you first see them appear on the Hogwarts Express. The way they slowly float down the train cabin and the way their long boney fingers opens the door.

Remember in Chambers when Harry uses the Floo Powder and ends up in Knockturn Alley. Do you think the boney fingers on the mantle that grabbed Harry was a dementor hand?

I agree. The dementors were perfect, just like I imagined them it.

The scene at the end with the Time-turner was also great. For some reason, the movie made the time-turner make sense. That part of the 3rd book always confused me.

I loved watching the time turner... it was JUST how I imagined it.

And I LOVED when they came back into the hospital room, right as their other selves were leaving with the time turner, and watching Ron's face!! It was classic.

I have now seen the movie four times. I have no life. The dementors were perfect. I really liked the part when Hermione hit Malfoy.

I liked the bit with the Maid in the Leakt Cauldron

Young Maid: Housekeeping.
(Door opens and there is a loud roar)
Young Maid: I'll come back later

It was so random, and the way she said it was soooo funny!

Yeah, that was funny. And then seconds later Scabbers and Crookshanks go flying by.

This is a toughie..
I liked that scene with the dementors hovering around hogwarts. It kind of brought you to grips about how many of them there were. Like KJ said, Ron's expressions with the time-turner were hilarious. And recently I've developed an liking for good movie monsters, so Buckbeak and the werewolf were awesome. I'm still trying to figure out how many extra joints they gave Buckbeak in his front legs...never mind.
I didn't like that one of Harry doing the Lumos spell over break. (Did they just temporarily forget what trouble he got in for Dobby's Hover Charm?)..*sigh* Directors and their brain farts..

it's hard to say but some of my favorite scenes are when Hermione throws the time turner over her and Harry and Harry looks confused and tries to touch the time turner and she slaps Harry's hand. Her punching Malfoy was good too. And when Hermione throws the rock at Harry and he tells her that it hurt. I basically loved the whole movie, but those are some of my fav. scenes!
