In the OoTP prefect aren't able to dock points only the inquistorial squad is able to dock points,right?But in the CoS,percy took 5 points from Griffindor.what do u guys think?So r prefect able to dock points or not??

If I remember correctly, JKR addressed this on her website. She said when Ron said prefects couldn't dock points, he was wrong, and didn't really understand what responsibilities he had... www.jkrowling.com - I'm pretty sure it was here... she did say it somewhere at least

I remember reading that as well. I don't think Ron was the most eager of Prefects. I will bet that he left the details to Hermione.

Can prefects take points or not? A prefect took points from Gryffindor in the Chamber of Secrets, and then there was a reference to prefects not being allowed to dock points. What are the rules?
Ron got it wrong in 'Phoenix', from which we deduce that he hasn't been a very authoritarian prefect thus far; he clearly hasn't been taking points from anybody.
