I know Chinese!!!! Well I think I do. Dunno how you spell it or anything, especially not in Chinese. But is "way" hello? And isn't "Ne How Ma" How are you? As I said, ignore the spelling but that is you say it, I think?

Very good schmiggens

Way (or wei) is the way you'd answer the phone, but generally if you want to greet someone you'd just say ni hao (or ne how, as you've written it)... and, yes, ni hao ma is "how are you?"

喂 - wei (hello)
你 - ni (you)
好 - hao (good)
嗎 - ma (means this sentence is a question)

I thought my spelling would be off

what is (again, don't look at the spelling)

na wha descu?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: gaboman

absolutely no idea

I even tried asking someone, in case it was a sentence I'd never heard

haha
you really surprise me! you can say" ne how!"

but I fail to your "na wha descu" .

schmiggens, you are sure that it is not japaneses?

I have a friend who is Chinese but also knows Japanese fluently. Even though I don't know what Schmiggens said, it sounds like Japanese to me (since I listen to my friend speak both of them).

Yes, my bad. Japanese. My b/f folks are Japanese, but they live in China, so we got all sort of language going on in our house. I get confused

I have a friend from China and I always want to know his Chinese name but he doesn't want to tell me. His American name is Jerry but I think his Chinese name is Yixing. Am I right?

Reply To this Message

I deal with a lor of Asians in my work and from my experience their English name can be just about anything, it doesn't neccessarily have any relation to their Chinese name or any relation to anything, sometimes, it's just an English name they happen to like.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: chodder

Oh. Well do you know what Yixing means in Chinese? Or is it just a name?
