RAPPER Snoop Dogg has filed for divorce from his wife, after seven years together. The US star, who recently took the role of Huggy Bear in the film Starsky & Hutch, has been married to Shante since 1997. He is seeking joint custody of the couple's three children: Corde, nine, Cordell, seven and Cori, four.

Snoop, born Calvin Broadus, cited general 'irreconcilable differences' for the break-up in the papers filed with Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. Recently, he has branched out into hosting porn videos.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly seven years, Shante Broadus.

Scandal show "Celebrity Justice" has obtained the petition for dissolution of marriage, filed on Friday in Los Angeles.

Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

The petition also requests joint custody of the couple's three children, Corde, Cordell and Cori.

SNOOP CALLED ON PIMP'S COUNSEL OVER MARRIAGE SPLIT

Rapper Snoop Dogg confided in a former pimp when his marriage to childhood sweetheart Shante hit trouble.

The hip-hop star recently announced he and Shante were splitting up, but pal Bishop Don Magic Juan tried to keep the couple together.

He says, "I counsel him about that and I spoke to him about really trying to make it work and staying with it.

"He said he did all of them things and that he's not happy about it and it's something he wants to do. So I said, 'If that's what you want to do, I'm behind you 100 percent. He hates that this had to take place.

"He very much loved that girl and his kids, but it comes a time in the situation where it's uncomfortable for both parties."

SNOOP DITCHES HIS PIMP IMAGE TO WIN WIFE BACK

Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has dumped his pimping ways in a bid to win his wife Shante back.

The rapper filed for divorce from his childhood sweetheart in May, citing irreconcilable differences, but now claims he made a big mistake.

And he's ditching all his sex projects, including the top-selling "Snoop Dogg: Doggystyle" series of porn tapes -- because his wife always disapproved of his pimping ways.

He says, "My wife don't like it. She knows I'm not participating. But you're still being close to it. That's why I'm not gonna [bleep] with it anymore."

The decision is the beginning of Snoop's attempt to save his marriage.

He adds, "I know I said I wanted a divorce, but that ain't what I really wanted. That's the devil working. My thing was, I was so demanding and not willing to listen.

"That's why it was all bad, because of the simple fact that I'm Snoop Dogg and in a powerful position and sometimes that [bleep] gets to my head.

"I just got to come back to being, you know, Calvin [Broadus], and realizing what matters most to me -- my wife and my kids. That's what I'm trying to do right now. Put that back together again."

SNOOP RECONCILES WITH WIFE

Rapper Snoop Dogg reconciled with his wife Shante for a family Christmas in New York.

Snoop Dogg canceled a week of partying to prove to his wife he's a changed man after admitting he had made a mistake in cheating on her and filing for divorce last summer.

Instead he took his childhood sweetheart and their kids to New York.

He says, "They never seen snow, they never seen what it looked like in New York round this time of the year."
