BEYONCE HELPS BREW PLAN FOR ROWLAND'S ENGAGEMENT SURPRISE
Beyonce Knowles was far from surprised to learn her pal Kelly Rowland got engaged to football ace Roy Williams -- because she cooked up an elaborate plan to ensure the event ran smoothly.
The singer and her boyfriend Jay-Z planned a May 10 party at the rapper's New York City hot-spot 40/40 Club under the guise of celebrating the first day of shooting anticipated movie "The Pink Panther."
At the appointed time, Beyonce had her mother Tina Knowles pretend to faint. When Kelly rushed to her side, Tina asked to be led to a private VIP room so she could sit down. But when Kelly opened the door, she found the room filled with rose petals and candles -- and her boyfriend of about six months waiting inside, where he dropped to one knee and popped the big question.
An eyewitness says, "Kelly was shocked."
Jay-Z was also in on the plan. He helped pick the 6-carat, round-cut engagement ring and even calmed Dallas Cowboys safety Williams before the proposal.
The source tells Us Weekly, "Roy's hands were shaking so badly! He doesn't drink, but Jay made him have three shots."
The happy couple have yet to set a date for their nuptials.
That's so sweet. You hear so many stories of famous people and how they get proposed to and they are always real nice stories. I hope mine is as good, not some boring tale I will be embarrassed to tell people
Well darn... what happened to being an independent woman? b? kelly? michelle? solange? Nah I'm happy for all of them but so much for being independent....
Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland has been hit by reports she's called off her engagement to football player Roy Williams.
The 23-year-old singer had been planning to walk down the aisle with the Dallas Cowboys star, 24, in March. And while invitations had already gone out, guests reportedly are being called and notified that the wedding has been canceled.
A source tells Us Weekly, "[Kelly] said yes when he proposed and, after she thought about it, changed her mind."
A representative for Rowland insists the wedding is still on, but the date has just been changed. An alternate date has yet to be announced but no reason has been given for the change.
In Touch magazine caught up with Kelly Rowland for a Q&A and asked the Destiny's Child star where she expets to be in five years. "Well, I definitely see myself having kids, but not for a good three to five years," Rowland responded. "Whatever I do - whether it's singing, or I'd love to do more movies - I just want to enjoy life. I think you should just live every day to the fullest."
