Ron's receptiveness

I was just reading throught the books again before the movie comes out, and I noticed that Ron seems to be able to sense when things aren't what they seem to be- In Book 1, he warned Harry not to go back to the Mirror of Erised, in Book 2, he didn't trust Riddle's diary from the start, and in Book 3, he knew there was something abnormal about Crookshanks. I haven't started on Book 4 yet, but when I notice something in it and Book 5, I'll post it here if someone else hasn't already. My question is, why didn't he realize there was something strange about Scabbers? Could it be because he had been in the family so long and he was just used to him? And is there a name for this ability (besides intuition)?

Great thought, CD. I like it... Ron does seem to has intuition/esp, or something of the like.

I will pay better attention to that the next time I read one of the books!!!!

Maybe Ron is the one who will be a true seer.

That's possible - especially since JKR has to give Ron some treat that will make him special.

I think you're right about that, Grant.... Ron does need something to make him "special"

I'm wondering though... could the fact be that he's now playing Quidditch, and will possibly get got at it, be the thing that will help him to be special?

That's interesting! He may be a late bloomer when it comes to sporting talents But I think the fact that he's often jealous of Harry's fame and popularity, gives a little indication that he's in for something to make him recognised.

Which is really all he wants.

Yes, that's true... he loves Harry, like a brother, but he is extremely jealous of him.

I think that having Hermione fall in-love with him will help do the trick though.
He will have something really good... something that Harry doesn't have.

Anyway... I think that we're going to see some great things from Ron... heck, from a lot of the kids in the next two books.

But his "bad feeling" about things is looking to be a likely plot twist for Ron

True, once again... and that's a good thing. After all, it gives JKR all that much more to write about.

I don't look to see Ron become a great Quiddich player. I think he may end up being head boy and working for the M.O.M. That would please his parents, and that would mean a lot to him.

Hmm... his parents already love him he wants peer acceptance, I think.

But he wants to be the best out of all of them. It has to be partially due to wanting to please his mom. Look at Hermione, she is very much like Mrs. Weasley.

Do you think if Fred and George told Ron that Hermione was just like their mum, it would ruin it for him?

ron does need something special, the only time he was really glorified or separated from harry and hermione was when they talked about how he came from a pure blood wizard family, like in the second book especially, and even in other books jkr always makes a great deal about how great rons home is, and his family, although ron doesnt really know that this is something hes being glorified in because hes got so many brothers, and well the family is rather poor. I wish ron had a really special talent, i think we will eventually see something that he is extremely good at other than wizarding chess later on in the story. oiey only two books left AHHHHHHH

Ron,would get something special,a seer is great.finally he can be as popular as Harry that is what he wants,right??

Now being a seer would set Ron apart, and it is something that none of his brothers can do.

Okay, in Book 4, Ron knew that Fleur was a veela. (Well, really part veela, but close enough.) Currently reading Book 5 and I'll post as soon as I find something.

Well, Ron is great at chess, so that makes him special. He is also intensely loyal to Harry, another special attribute. And personally, I think he's hilarious!
