I love Diana! I think she has everything necessary to be the next AI and I should know. But has anyone noticed that over the last 6 weeks she has put on quite a bit of weight? I am not saying this to be mean I just can't help but notice and this business relies a lot on appearance. When I started I looked like a geek! Not that I still don't though... lol!

Well.....Im not so sure that she has put on weight...I think she has always been chunky and it may have been more noticeable with the last few outfits...she may have hidden it better with other clothes she has worn.

I realize many people say that this business relies on thin women....but I guess I can say, for instance, Queen Latifah hasnt had any problem making it in the business. Wynona Judd has no issues in this business.

Here is my problem though....

Why is this an issue with her, and it wasnt for Ruben? He certainly never had any problem with any of the judges telling him he was too heavy, and his weight is downright dangerous for his health.

why do i ask?? because it doesn't seem as though Clay Aiken would be on INReview and have time for this.

You are absolutely right but as you pointed out, America wants thin women. Queen Latifa and Wynonna have had success but not at the levels of Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Briteny Spears, etc. I think Ruben was given a great deal of leway because of his gender. I think he is a man... I spent enought time with him... he BETTER be a man... lol!

I have some downtime now and then and what better way for me to find out what the fans want but by reading what the fans are saying. What do you think of Solitaire?

Please, please don't get me wrong! I don't have an issue with Diana's weight at all. It's just something that Kelly and I have noticed. Kelly is very comfortable with her physique, I personally feel like I am too thin. I was just pointing it out because this business is very hard on people our age let alone someone of Diana's age. Although as Simon points out, she is an old soul. She holds herself VERY well for some her age. I am really impressed with her star quality. That usually takes years in the school of hard knocks to acheive. I think she is awesome!

Think about it from my perspective. This is one of the only ways I can communicate with my fans at a normal and even level. As much as I wanted to accept my degree it was a great deal more difficult with my new job. Please don't get me wrong, I love what I do and I especially love that you love what I do. That's what makes me want to do it more. Thank you.

Ok ... I'll play for a moment. Kim Locke is a beautiful and talented woman and a special friend of Clay's, right ? So what's weight got to do with it.

Kelly Clarkson was also not the thinnest woman in the AI1 competition.


Diana hasn't gained weight and she's not really what I would call "heavy". It's her age and body type. The so-called stylists should counsel her towards better wardrobe choices, and steer her away from the clingy stuff until things settle into place.

Actually, Fantasia is not a lightweight either, but her height and an abundance of black clothing hides it much better.

But back to the weight issue in general, Ruben is the one who was dangerously overweight and they never said a word about it.

They did him a terrible diservice.

my birthday is november 30th and my shoe size is 12, not 13 like the internet rumour. I have 2 volvos and I live with kim locke. I went on tour with kelly. after high school i changed my last name to aiken, my mothers maiden name. I also ran over a cat when i was 16 and PETA was quite harsh about that.

oh... and I doubt Clay lives in north carolina now. you could change the location to LA... it would be more realistic.

I did accept my degree, I never said that I didn't. Just stated that it was more challenging than it would have been with out all the celebrity. You are right, I am not in NC this evening.

The real Clay Aiken has more sense and has way too much class to start a thread talking about a 16 year-old girl's WEIGHT.
After all the majority of Clay's fans are women and they are of all ages and sizes, so a weight discussion would be a no-no.

Who is Clay Aiken?

I think a woman's weight isn't particularly important, especially with singers. Wynonna and Queen Latifah weren't/aren't as popular as Celine or Mariah because they're not quite as talented (though I'm not particularly fans of any of them). As people have already said, Ruben is a bit big (he isn't huge, really, just a bit big) and it was never an issue. I know a lady by the name of Mandy Gaines who sings like an angel in many different styles (particularly Jazz and soul) and she is more than a little over-weight, but it's never been a problem, because her shows are remarkable and her singing is breath-taking.

I really think the focus should be more on people's singing/performing ability and not other things, which shouldn't really be issues.

Diana is only 16. Many girls go through a chunky stage. She could thin out. I think her choice of clothes is just bad. Unless you are a twigg you should know these rules of fashion
1. Red is only for the really thin, it can make you look bigger than you are.
2. Satin will show off any bluge you have.
3. Black is your best friend.

I think it's refreshing to see someone that's not stick thin and isn't too self concious to dress however she wants. I mean, I'm sure the stylists have a lot to do with it, but I doubt she'd wear something if she didn't really want to.

She may wear what she wants to, but in a competition like this she needs to look her best at all times.

yeah... i think she's really pretty, but she does kinda show her tummy sometimes. i love her voice.

What is on the inside is what is important. I think the observation was made about Diana because people want her to win and they want her to dress to maximize her chance. After all, Simon wants her gone.

Ponyangel, don't worry about what ClayA said. I'm sure it wasnt meant as something mean to diana, rather as a comment that people have to watch thier weight to be famous, and as "Clay" he would know that. if you've read ClayA's posts, it is someone claiming to be Clay Aiken. haha

i thought clays shoe size was 13 1/2.. that is where i read it in an AI magazine.. but o well that is not what matters what matters it that we know that is not clay bc *(not to be mean) but kim is heavier that diana and im sure he is not concerned about her wieght.. he likes ppl for the inside.. and who ever is ClayA.. that is kinda pathetic.. bc even if clay was to come to this forum he prolly wouldnt use that name bc ppl would start going crazzy

I really don't think Simon wants Diana gone he just feels that Latoya and Fantasia are in a different league. In my opinion Diana and Latoya are in a different league. Fantasia is a good singer but I don't think she has the "star" quality that Diana and Latoya have. From a personality perspective Diana has it all over Latoya. If that is what America is looking for this then they have it in Diana. How less conspicous can I be than to use my name as a login ID? I love my fans.

Yeah I heard too (on ET) that he is hoping that it is LaToya and Fantasia in the top 2...so yea...not Diana...

To diana's weight...I don't think it is a big deal because she is just a kid and everyone at this age has problems with their weight. I mean I am 17 and my weight goes up and down. I just think people need to stop looking at her weight and start listening to voice because she has a great one that will so blew everyone away someday!!!!!

I hope Jasmine goes home this week. I was upset when she sir-passed John and was really mad when she beat out George because that should of never happen...and if you read the US WEEKLY out..Simon says that he doesn't see any of these girls are ever going to be as awesome as Kelly (not word for word quote)....and for once I have to say I agree with Simon.....(never thought I would say that!!!!!!!!!!

Regarding Diana's weight which is the (questionable) topic of this thread ...

Diana looked absolutely great last evening. I didn't see a weight problem at all !

Jasmine looked really cute too -- the dress especially.

For her first song, I didn't care for Latoya's long see-through coral sausage look. Talk about tight !
But I thought her 2nd outfit was really cute and suitable for the theme.

Fantasia looked like she was going grocery shopping or maybe going to clean house or take the baby to the park.

If we saw a side-by-side of Diana and Fantasia in their all black 2nd song outfits you'd see what I mean.

You'd see that Diana looked stand-out ... really nice and Fantasia just looked ... kind of thrown together.

So ... keep doing whatever you are doing Diana !

Diana looked really nice last night. She looked like she was trying to look good and pulled it off. I thought Fantasia's 2nd outfit, looked like she didn't get dressed this morning....I liked Jasmine first outfit.....

Personally I hope Diana puts on more weight. It would be quite refreshing to see a female pop star with meat on her bones instead of the same old bag of bones with breast implants that's saturating the music industry today. It irritates the hell out of me when society equates talent with thinness. We all know that's not the truth, and I think it's sick that so many people buy into that crap.

Diana is not built to be super skinny. She has a large chest, and you don't have a stick thin bod with a chest like that unless you go buy your chest. She just needs to dress to show off her curvy figure. Personally, I am sick of all the silicone enhanced twigs that Hollywood says are the epitome of beauty.

Diana is not all that big. I mean she is 16....and going back and forth with her weight...I mean alright...here is this...Diana sung at this 11ALIVE christmas parties (a news channal here) and she was big like she is now...but within months....at the Emmy party she was singing at...she was small....She's just 16 and going back and forth with her weight..you know...I think Diana rocks and I hope she wins...

Diana looked good on Ryan Secreast and Regis and Kelly this morning...she doesn't look that big anymore

She is really busy. She was not that overweight to begin with, so she could have lost it. Nice to hear. She is a great kid.

diana is the most amazing singer ever! i love her voice so much and she doesn't have to use screaming and shoe-breaking to get attention! she deserved to be it and u know it! if you're smart, you'll lay off of her, and don't tempt me to stoop to some of these levels and trash Fantasia! lol

Diana is awesome. She has a voice like an angel and I'm happy to say we are from the same place. She's home now, taking some much needed time off and just being a teen. Soon though, she is going to make a CD and as much as we all love her as our 'Georgia Peach', we may have to wave good-bye and sent her off to Hollywood, a place she has always dreamed of.

her single comes out end of June and her cd comes out in Oct. I can't wait for the tour...I am going to the Georgia show....(although I am just not going to see Diana but to see my John Stevens)......I am hoping they let her do something extra seeing this is her home state and these are the people who have loved her from the start....

yea, she lives about 10 minutes away and our schools play each other in sports....that's what made it funny when our school was pulling for Diana...because she was from one of our biggest rival (sp?) schools...but I guess when it came to Diana and her voice...that all went out the window
