| trust me, you have all A's, you will get into any college you want, and probably scholarships will pay for the entire thing.
Affirmative action was made to counter the economic handicap that stayed with black families generations after slavery ended. (Not to mention the racism following the end of slavery). It's getting out-dated though, it's no longer necessary. And it's starting to go out of style.
This year at Virginia Tech they no longer have a race field on the application. I think this is a step in the right direction. How can somebody be racist if they don't know what race you are?
The problem is that middle class black people have the advantage because they are relatively wealthy, plus have minority status. Poor whites are the worst off.
But I don't feel sorry for the spoiled yuppies who never had a job and their parents bought them a car and gave them 100 dollar week allowance and skipped school all the time, and then didn't get into college because they had C's instead of B's. Screw 'em. Maybe they'll lead a hard life and they'll be able to teach their kids values like hard work, values that their parents should've taught them.
I'm about to go off on a tangent here... so I'll just leave it at that.
