Who should be voted off?

Very Interesting. Half for Huff and half for DeGarmo. We can all be wrong.

What's REALLY interesting is that the show hasn't even aired, yet there are two votes.
I'm going to remove them, and close the poll, which will be opened tonight, after the show.

I know I was thinking about the last performance. Good idea. I'll vote tomorrow after the show.

Huff and DeGarmo ?

That's probably because that bozo Simon, when he was critiquing Jasmine, said that Jasmine was just like Diana HUFF.

There's sort of a joking AI "curse" -- that people who have a long run of pretty sub-standard performances, finally have a really good night, do much better and then get booted.

I do think that John S may have run this gauntlet and that he will probably have a decent night tonight but is seriously in danger of getting cut anyway.

Either Diana or John must go tonight! I don't care if they blow me away with the best performance ever. Diana makes my ears hurt and John makes me yawn.

It's funny how people see things. See, I don't understand why you would say that.

If they blew you away ... say if Diana were to please and John had you up and dancing ... why would you say you don't care and they have to go ?

If I saw Latoya less wooden and really connect, or even Fantasia made sounds that I enjoyed for a change, I would give kudos ... albeit begrudgingly.

I guess it's just that we all judge our NON-favorites more harshly and just have a harder time seeing anything good ?

Viva la difference !

John Stevens HAS to go....its time...and I dont think I can even top Simon's comments to him tonight... LOL!! In the words of Cowell....

"Mandy fell asleep"... (yeah, along with the rest of the world).

John has my vote to go home when the polls open up....he is becoming more intolerable as the weeks go on.

I'm going to have to disagree with the judges and say that George was my favorite this week, and that is strange for me because he is not one of my favorites. I think its going to come down to LaToya, Fantasia, and Jennifer.

Well I have no idea who is gonna be voted off.. seems like george isn't doing great these couple of weeks ( 2 weeks ) I don't notice, I always think he sounds great, but he needs to start with those great performances ! I really miss the judges giving him great remarks. Lotoya and Fantasia, don't seem to be the ones that are leaving tomorrow. But I guess it might be between John and Diana, who really knows?

Let's not forget about the lovely Jasmine. Doesn't seem like anyone cares enough about her, although she's still better than Diana and John combined. I hope she's NOT the one to go tomorrow, but I think she just might due to her lack of attention.

I'm worried about George...if he doesn't straighten out soon, there definitely won't be any guys in the top 3 - not that I'm saying that would be a bad thing.

IMO...I dont think Jasmine will be voted off this week....she was good enough to stay on....plus she has all of Hawaii rooting and voting for her.

Perf order and songs:

1-Diana ... One Voice

2-George ... Trying to get the feeling again.

3-Jenn ... Weekend in New England

4-Jasmine ... I'll never love this way again.

5-Latoya ... Didn't I have it all

6-John ... Mandy

7-Fantsia ... It's a Miracle

I'll let someone else give you their comments since I am always way out of sync with most folks.

Further, we have weather issues here and the bulletins cut out portions of some of the performances here.

I liked Jennifer best of the women.

Suffice to say ... Simon was positive to all the women and negative to George and John.

Get out your dart guns. Here's my ratings of THIS EVENINGS PERFORMANCES ONLY ... ok ?

1- Jennifer ... better every week.

2- Latoya ... I missed the beginning of her song due weather bulletin but what I heard was 2nd only to Jenn. I still don't feel connected but she sounded pretty good.

3- Jon ... his best performance yet. Manilow helped him understand the song and he was very good.

4- Fantasia ... I disliked her gospel singer version of this song ... totally. This songs has a melody and she didn't and sounded shaky to me.

5-Jasmine ... Wrong song for her IMO, and poor breath control, but ok.

6- Diana ... At last she connected and wasn't robotic but there was something a little off tonight ..some problems with the transitions

7- If anything George was worse tonight than last week. Either he is straining his voice or he is sick. I'm sad because I like him, but he just was not good tonight ... and now his facial expressions are looking odd.

Hi there! i am back again with my Review.

Drumroll please! Okay, we've all figured out now that we don't have a dozen singers anymore and we can't fail to vote because we figure someone else will. Our group looks kinda' small now. In just two weeks they'll each be singing two songs!! Wow, things are really starting to heat up, and after five weeks of performance under their belts, these contestants should really come out swinging, or singing if you will, with no more excuses. It's on, Baby!!!!!

During the introductions Simon does another overly dramatic response to Ryan's teasing. Enough with the theatrics. At this point in the show, we want to see the contestants, not you. Paula is wearing a cast on her left arm, for which we're given no explanation. Randy shows his usual flare for self-bravado. Out comes this week's guest judge Barry Manilow, who spent a lot of time working with the contestants to freshen up his songs and mold them to each singer. We get repeated jokes about Barry being the old version of Clay Aiken and we also learn that George spends the most amount of time in the bathroom. You know, I've been wondering that since the season started. Whew! Now I can sleep.

Diana starts things off with the expected "One Voice." It's well known among school choirs and such and I was pretty sure she'd be the one to sing it. She looks much better than she ever has- very sharp and businesslike. Her singing is fine- very controlled and nice. Nice would be my best word for it though, not superstar. I'm finding I enjoy the tone of her voice less each week. The judges all rave that its her best week yet. Perhaps. I'm thinking she looks like she's Caroline Rhea's daughter. I'm also continually disappointed to see the judges always chatting and looking bored even during the best singer's performances. As Diana was singing Simon reached over Paula and was talking to Barry Manilow. Seriously, these people give their all. If you're going to judge them, at least listen to them while they sing!!!

George Huff remembers the great praise from his earlier performances, and he's "Trying To Get That Feeling Back Again" by singing about it. I immediately hate the song. Maybe it's just George's version, but Yikes! Plus the wardrobe department let him down again. He looks just like American Junior Chauncy Matthews with his striped, oversized, long sleeved orange shirt. His singing is alright I guess, but bland compared to what he showed us he can really do. Randy says it was the perfect choice for him, but George was just so-so. The consensus is that it was a simple song and George mucked it up by doing to many riffs and vocal acrobatics. Simon said it was a mess and George is lucky that he sang well early on during the competition.

Jennifer Hudson is excited to show up her upper range with "Weekend In New England." When I hear the chorus I do remember and really like the song. Jennifer's version however is too powerful. Her phrasing is way too choppy and at times she difficult to understand. Must she always shout? The judges of course tell her she is superb and as she gets louder each week, that means better! Simon is excited for the battle of the divas. Exactly-them against my ears and my only weapons are earplugs. She does have an incredible voice, but I just wish she'd realize less is more sometimes.

Jasmine picks another song I know, "I'll Never Love This Way Again." She is clearly healthy again and sounding nice- until the end, where though she's got the notes right, she's shrieking as if to save someone's life and not sing a song. Is there any subtlety left in this world? The judges, who clearly like screaming, rave once again. Jasmine is back and that was her best yet.

In fact, screaming is so popular on the show now, we hear it "All The Time," as in Latoya's selection tonight. She does have a nice clear voice. All the notes are there and Latoya looks proud as the judges shower her with praise. Simon has now switched to saying Latoya is the best in the group. Hep Hep Hurray!

Okay, Johnny Boy is next and he'll be singing one of Manilow's biggest hits "Mandy." Once again perched on a stool, John is just really good. Obviously, that's just my opinion. Everyone says he started out great with a lot of emotion, but then went back to just merely singing the song. Randy makes sure to say he likes John as a person. Barry said it was just fine and Paula agreed. Simon, also noting that John is a nice guy, said he's clearly not one of the best singers in the group and that he looks like Stan Laurel from Laurel & Hardy. Maybe I was just so happy not to hear yet another singer try to turn their lungs inside out, that I actually enjoyed John's sincere focus on a beautiful melody. But again, my opinion only.

Fantasia finishes things off by letting her daughter do all the performing. As Fantasia delivers her gospel version of "It's A Miracle" we keep cutting away to her family and daughter sitting in the green room watching it on a television set. Talk about distracting from the performance. Fantasia gets loud and funky again, but it seems much more natural than the others girls who are doing it to prove themselves. Fantasia is just BEING herself. A lot of talk has been going on that the show is trying to steer us towards Fantasia's victory. Simon said it himself during her semi-final round that she should win this. I'm sure Ryan's walking out carrying her daughter had nothing to do with that either. No, nothing at all. So if you'd like to vote for her daughter's cuteness, vote for contestant 07.

Alright, not who was best or worst, but I least enjoyed George, Jasmine and Diana's songs. I thought LaToya, Fantasia and John's were the most sincerely performed and I enjoyed them most. John might get the rally vote after last week, so the bottom could be surprising this week. This season is way to hard to call though, so I'm not even predicting anymore. Okay, maybe John or Jasmine will go.

I don't have any rifht to be on this forum as I hd fallen asleep due to meds and only got to see Fantasia and John.

I heaR BAD things about George which just makes me sick as he is my homeboy and the local paper had an entire page devoted to him today. I do believe he will make it thru tomorrow night and John will be kicked off. I enjoyed his version of Mandy, thought it was the best so far.

I can not stand Diana from the start, she just grates on my nerves.

Wouldn't vote tonight because I didn't get the message OBAF left for me.
This has been a lousy day so I will say
Ga Nite Mates.

i think fantasia has to be the strongest performer in terms of week in week out deliveries but it will be interesting to see how it goes...

That's what I was saying even last week. Ryan Seacrest did say on HIS show that Four of the contestants were sick but we only know about Diana and Jasmine.

I also wonder if maybe George hasn't strained his voice because of overuse and maybe improper singing technique like breath control, posture etc. ?

Also ... George did exceptionally well in the genres that were best suited to his voice and style, and seems to have done not as well on the others.

This style/genre factor plays into it for all of them. The one who most easily converts is Latoya who's experience has provided the broadest repertoir.

I thought it was unfair to bring out Fantasia's adorable daughter, my husband said it right away, it was not the right thing to do. No other family members came on the stage.. I really like latoya, George chose the worng song, he should have chose weekend in new england. he would have done well with his low vioce. I think Diana is very talented for her age, and John, poor John, he has NO emotion. Jennifer gets better and better eack week, Jasmine..eh, she's too low key for me. I LOVE barry Manilow and really enjoyed tonight

Thanks again for your fun recaps p'fish. A few comments this week.

As Diana was singing Simon reached over Paula and was talking to Barry Manilow. Seriously, these people give their all. If you're going to judge them, at least listen to them while they sing!!!

Diana did look very nice. It is awful that Simon wasn't even paying attention to her performance. She could see that too. How sad for her.

George Huff remembers the great praise from his earlier performances, and he's "Trying To Get That Feeling Back Again" by singing about it. I immediately hate the song. Maybe it's just George's version, but Yikes! Plus the wardrobe department let him down again. Simon said it was a mess and George is lucky that he sang well early on during the competition.

Simon has a point there. Good performances early in the competition and the fanbases are important to winning.

Jennifer Hudson is excited to show up her upper range with "Weekend In New England." When I hear the chorus I do remember and really like the song.
Jennifer's version however is too powerful. Her phrasing is way too choppy and at times she difficult to understand. Must she always shout? Last week it was pins and dolls ... this week it's a battle. Way to pump the fans of the other divas huh ?

Jasmine picks another song I know, "I'll Never Love This Way Again." She is clearly healthy again and sounding nice- until the end, where though she's got the notes right, she's shrieking as if to save someone's life and not sing a song. More pumping the fan vote ... but this comment is to get Fantasia's fans ready to dial.

Okay, Johnny Boy is next and he'll be singing one of Manilow's biggest hits "Mandy." Once again perched on a stool, John is just really good. Obviously, that's just my opinion. Maybe I was just so happy not to hear yet another singer try to turn their lungs inside out, that I actually enjoyed John's sincere focus on a beautiful melody. But again, my opinion only.

John was one of the best singers of the night, but thanks to Simon we're left thinking he looks like Stan Laurel rather than how well he sang.

So if you'd like to vote for her daughter's cuteness, vote for contestant 07.

So following John's great performance we are distracted from Fantasia's less than great performance and then left to choose between the late Stan Laurel -- the past reincarnated ... and ... a beautiful baby -- the hope of the world.

Nah ... this isn't manipulation. It's all about singing, right ?

Alright, not who was best or worst, but I least enjoyed George, Jasmine and Diana's songs. I thought LaToya, Fantasia and John's were the most sincerely performed and I enjoyed them most. John will probably be saying goodbye tonight, and Simon couldn't let him go with his head high.

Simon and the baby hype for Fantasia had to steal any shine or positive attention from John's excellent and best performance.

Was anyone else just waiting for Fantasia to lay hands on Paula and 'HEAL!" her? Conspiracy theory would totally have Paula faking the sling to make it work, too.

And then Simon could pass the collection plate...

And of course, not forgetting, her whole section with the baby. It was such extreme pimping I swear Morpheus was going to leap on the stage, grab and raise the baby, all while shouting "Tonight let us make them remember: This is Zion, and you will vote for Fantasia!!! Aaaah!"

I'm too f***ing tired of the judges rewarding crap.

I have commented on who I like best many times...certainly you missed that....

But in case you missed it, I do have one I like overall....but sometimes it interchanges through the weeks between two of them....

So, again, I have already stated who I like...and I realize that many people rank them in order of preference of their liking....and I did that in the beginning by doing that on a week to week thing...because depending on the week...I thought some were better than others, and that changed every week. As for overall preference...if someone has a favorite...why is there a need to keep re-ranking every week...especially if that person is still on the show?

Anyhow...I dont have that kind of time to sit down and analyze each individual's personality and/or what I care or dont care about them...nor do I care to do that.....I come on here and state what I think at the moment....

well I don't even care anymore... only watched last night because Barry Manilow is one of my favorites and I wish he would have left the songs the way they were.. Its a Miracle and Weekend in New England were virtually unrecognizable.. anyway here is my 1/2 cents for what its worth.. probably not in the right order

Dianna, better than last week she tried hard but hit some wrong notes..

George is in trouble and this is the first time I noticed that he does have a raspy voice..not suited for contemporary stuff IMO I couldn't wait for him to finish and even he seemed to give a sigh of relief that it was over.

Jennifer - really hated her rendition but her performance was OK

Jasmine - thought she did a really good job

LaToya - sorry, she just bugs the heck out of me.. she can sing but its like she is singing for herself, not to the audience

Fantasia - sounded like a charasmatic church performance, hated it, and I thought it was entirely unfair for them to trot out her daughter, cute as she is. Please don't anyone be offended with the charasmatic statement, but that's how it sounded.

John - he tried really very hard, I liked it! thought it was as close to the original as possible but without emotion.. all he needs is to mature.. I think Simon was very very unfair with his Stan Laurel remark. he just seems to be swaying the audience blatently with his "diva battle" remarks..

Obviously John, Dianna, George and Jasmine are all goners..

7. THE HORRIBLE FANATSIA

i can't stand fantasia's voice or attitude, i really hope she'll get voted off soon. J_butter_b FANTASIA Will not win, SHE WONT! too many people dont like her.

La toya keeps dominating each week and I think Jasmine, Jennifer and Diana will just keep getting better every week.

I like George, but he can't have that many off weeks

John well i dont know what to say, I just don't like his voice.

Though I gotta throw this in (camile velasco will have the most successful career out of any of the top 12 idols)

my goodness... please lets remember that the child is innocent.. and there but for the grace of God go any of us..

I think that bringing Fantasia's child out was a low blow to all the other performers. I guess that they realize that by doing that, it puts sympathy out for her, and will gain her some votes.

I think on the bottom this week is
John, Jenn and George.

On top was
LaToya, Diana, and Jasmine

I thought George's performance was the worst but he may go thru on past performance.

I have commented on who I like best many times...certainly you missed that....

But in case you missed it, I do have one I like overall....but sometimes it interchanges through the weeks between two of them....

So, again, I have already stated who I like...

I guess I did miss it.

Honestly mystic ... I know that you liked Lisa and Amy and after that I really don't remember.

Would you please say again who your overall favorite is and who is the other one who interchanges between weeks.

Remember who was on the bottom three tonight:
Jennifer, Fantasia (remember next time to bring out your daughter again so you can be kicked off the show because the sympathy act wasn't working.), and Latoya.

And on top:
John, Jasmine, Diana, and George.

And George was the last one seated on the couch. Ryan is like "go join the top group, your safe," George automatically goes to Group A (Latoya, Fantasia, and Jennifer) and Ryan in like, "I said go to the top group... get to Group B." I was like... OMG! YAY! But sadly, Jennifer went. I liked her!!

I liked Jennifer pretty much, but thought she sang TOO LOUD a lot of the time. But at least she had a nice voice - she just needs to tone it down sometimes. Loud isn't always better.

Fantasia - she has one of those voices that can turn people off but, generally, is always compelling. When she is finished singing, you might be thinking, "Huh . . . that was unusual." And that causes people to listen to her to see what she will do next. However, I think she ends each song in much the same way, and that, she can stop doing. It's developed into too much of a pattern.

About John - I think he sings pretty decent much of the time, but the judges don't like his lack of emotion. He will develop into a much better performer as time goes on.

George sounded like he was having voice trouble. Did you all notice he "touched" his throat while standing next to Ryan? Maybe as an explanation to everyone?

The show now is officially a joke. I hope FOX realizes how many fans they have now lost.

They should rename the show "The most popular American Idol." What a farce. Did anyone see the look on John Stevens face and George Huff didn't believe it either and Diana DeGarmo was crying.

I think she tried to tone it down on Barry night, and the music was then too loud. She is a real loss to the show. Hope someone signs her.

At the rate they are humiliating him, the kid will probably get boos on the AI concert tour this year.

I didn't notice him touching his thoat, but I have been saying the same thing these last two weeks.

We are right. I read last night that Ryan Seacrest said George is having problems with Asthma.
Someone who knows more abot this correct me ... but I think that would affect breath control, and also if he was trying to push through it, he might have strained his voice. There is definitely a change, and it's too bad. To be truthful, I like George's voice better on the soulful stuff than Ruben Studdard's.

I saw all that ag ... it really is very sad.

Maybe they should separate things.

American Diva
American Hearthrob

Maybe they could even do an Extreme American Makeover ... you know take people who have potential and transform them.

Part of the problem is I truly believe, that they -- the producers -- did orchestrate things and continue to fuel the outcomes.

P.S.

Did anyone notice that Ryan Seacrest didn't specifiy how many people voted like he does all other nights (i.e., outnumbering ourselves, 24 million, etc.)

lol...@skylar...for not realizing what happened...if you would have watched "EXTRA" you will have understood why things were like that...Fantasia is still going to win..nothing has changed...
Newsflash***
There was a bad storm in the midwest the performance night..which delayed the showing of AI...much of these voters are fans of the "divas" infact Jenn if from the midwest...and these viewers didnt not get to see the show ...therefore they didnt get to vote....
and when Jenn was sent home...JOHN walks up to her and says, "It should have been ME"....even he knew better than him staying over her...lol... and George went to group A...because they are the BETTER singers....so... you must weigh all these factors in.... have a nice day

The Judges have already picked LaToya, so why bother any more.

Tonight on E T they had Paula as a guest and she said the whole audience let out a sigh when Jenn was selected to go home. Phones were ringing off the hook and complaints pouring in. She said that tomorow evening she will give some more inside info so check you TV guide

Jennifer was on Seacrest's show yesterday -- he always has the boots as guests on Thursday.

Barry ManilowWas also his featured guest and was supposed to sing 3 numbers.

For his first number he did a medley of his greatest and I got to hear what "It's a Miracle" sounds like when sung by a true artist.

He changed his mind about doing 3 and instead invited Jennifer to take the slot for his second song and do a repeat of "Weekend in New England. Barry Manilow accompanied Jennifer on the piano.
Barry and Jenn started it as sort of a little duet and then he told her to take it ... and boy did she. She can be proud for the rest of her life.

Barry said he left the AI studio after the "Freedom" number on Wednesday because he thought they were all great and didn't want to be there for the elimination. He said he got the info by phone later and he was shocked. He told Jenn to just take it in stride, this is just one of the not so ups, and she should have NO worries as she has a fantastic future ahead.

He must have told her and the audience a half dozen times how great she was and what a powerful voice and wide range she has.

He is SUCH a nice, nice man.

As for the frontrunner ... they escalated the playing of the 3 "divas" against each other 2 weeks ago with the pins in dolls thing.

Now it's narrowed and they will play Latoya and Fantasia against each other. There is a very strong posibility that the next to go will be Jasmine or Diana.

And by the way ... the show WAS broadcast and the phones worked in Chicago and most of Illinois. The show was interrupted several times by bad weather bulletins -- during the beginning of both George's and Latoya's songs. A tornado touched down in Utica, IL -- a town with a poplation of 1,000 -- and killed 8 people.

That could be why it was Jennifer and not Fantasia who got the axe. Maybe some Illinois fans were seeking shelter as four counties, Southwest of Cook County/Chicago were affected by the watches and warnings.

North Carolina is a long way from Illinois.

to be honest.. iwould be perfectly cool with latoya winning..she is a great singer as well as fantasia and george..so i wont complain about that..but i love fantasias voice..and if i get to work with her one day on her album i would be very happy to work with someone who's voice is so big and has no boundaries..such as john who only has one emotion to his singin.. the emotion of DRY...lol...but latoya is very versatile and i love her singing too..so who cares as long as the winner is black ..because the black people are the only ones who can sing in this years competition ..sorry to say..if kelly clarkson was on this season...there would actually be some competition from another race...but there is none this time .....

I wholeheartedly disagree with you butter. I think Diana DeGarmo is GREAT and she will be the top three. My choice for the top 3 are Diana, LaToya and Jasmine. Fantasia just rubs me the wrong way. She's too bouncy and all her songs sound the same. And George is getting worse by the minute. Diana & LaToya have been good the entire competition and are even getting better.

lol@that...but you cant say fantasia is not a good singer...your reasons?: she is too bouncy? what does that have to do with anything...all her songs sound the same..? how? she has her own STYLE but the songs she sings are nothing alike..they range from slow to fast to emotional to just funky... your reasons are getting worse while you are talkin about george ....the only reason george has been struggling lately is because he has asthma and it is starting to get the best of him... you have struggled in your life as you have shared on a previous post....so i dont think that is fair to say about him..when it is out of his control. he is an excellent singer and as YOU and some others thought that John was so great...he is GONE ..and geore was left standing....ALONG with Fantasia and Latoya...it is getting down to the good ones finally...Diana is not the WORST .. but she is not GREAT...that is all I'm saying..to be honest ..at one point in time i was a fan of all the people left at one point in time...EXCEPT Diana....i used to think Jasmine was great..until i continued to watch her sing off key and strain to hit notes.....I'm still not a fan of her..but she is better than Jasmine...i agree with that now...
