American Idol: Season 3 Forum

I just heard a news blurb that said American Idol will delay this week's shows by 24 Hours due to a scheduling conflict with the White House.

They will TAPE the show on Tuesday 4/13 but BROADCAST it on WEDNESDAY 4/14.

The LIVE RESULTS show will be on THURSDAY 4/15.

Apparently President Bush will be holding a News Conference at Idols regularly scheduled Idol time and FOX has decided to postpone Idol.

At least we'll have one George on Tuesday night.

I cannot find a news piece online yet ... but just heard this on local radio news.

FOX DEBATES: 'AMERICAN IDOL' OVER BUSH PRESS CONFERENCE

The White House scheduling of President Bush's formal press conference tomorrow night at 8:30 PM ET has thrown FOX-TV and its top-rated AMERICAN IDOL into chaos, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

FOX executives on Monday afternoon wrestled over whether to postpone this week's lucrative live IDOL showdown for the White House.

The Bush 8:30 PM press conference is set to run approximately 45 minutes, leaving a non-interrupted IDOL hour a scheduling impossibility during FOX's 8 to 10 PM primetime block.
IDOL commands the largest audience in television, with viewership levels passing 23 million in recent weeks.

One top executive argued Monday afternoon that the show should go forward -- with an on-screen disclaimer directing viewers to FOX NEWS channel for Bush coverage.

FOX will delay this week's AMERICAN IDOL competition by 24 hours, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, after the White House scheduled a formal Bush press conference during IDOL's Tuesday timeslot.

"We are going to tape the show Tuesday night -- and air it on Wednesday, and the results from the show will be revealed during a special live Thursday night hour," a FOX source explained from Los Angeles.

I wondered why they didn't just delay it an hour ?

But apparently this is a decision made by FOX and probably they figure that following the President's News Conference the talking head analysts have to talk and then they would back up into FOX's Broadcast news etc.

Unfortunately, fans this really messes up Thursday night viewing. Friends finale's , Survivor and AI all on at the same time on Thursday ? ( Apprentice will be on one hour later. )

Can someone call President Bush about this ?

Couple other things:

* Net Rumors abound that President Bush will announce the capture of Bin Laden.

* Net rumors also abound that that this is just a bully-pulpit election year ploy and that George Bush cannot sing.

* Apparently "Friends" episodes are repeats.

and don't forget about smackdown! on thursday night.

man this sucks.. im going to the clay concert on thursday and my mom will be there too.. so we have no one to tape!

Oh Larke, I just had to give you a hard time, or you would think there was somthing wrong with me.

I have NEVER missed an episode of Survivor. I can't start now. But I looove American Idol and I missed last week's show. What am I going to do? OH, another reason for me not to like Bush! ARGH!!!

It is too hard to choose. I want to see Friends, and AI. Then there is Survivor.

I'll probably watch Survivor and tape AI. Luckily, I don't really follow Friends.

I won't be watching Bush.

i think they should've set up a vote. let us choose to watch A.I. or the President. i would still have watched the president, but at least it would have been easier to record AI on tuesday than mess up thursday. i mean, if someone really wants to watch the president, it's not like there's not a dozen OTHER channels to watch him on. it's not like they're gonna have special footage not seen elsewhere. you know?

First of all ... I don't have to watch a news conference. I can listen on the radio if I want, and there will be transcripts all over the net and newspapers very quickly.

"24" is also displaced, I can't find it and it's becoming another family "issue" here.

I won't be watching our president either and I am really sad that Clay is ending his tour in like three days! That is a bummer!

wow...i havent kept up with any of those shows except american idol..i have only seen a couple friends episodes..ever..i know its sad..and i dont care about survivor..unless its the finale..and apprentice.is cool...and i want to see that

::shrugs:: You know that's what would happen. We'd all be watching the OTHER George. And the government wouldn't like that. :P

I do like Survivor and I flip to the Bachelor sometimes ... but I was mistaken it is on tonight at 7 so will conflict with AI ... too bad ... so sad ...

The Bachelor is some Football player this time ... Jesse somebody ... nice looking guy.
