Question:

I have Internet Explorer and just out of no where when ever I would scroll with my mouse it would bring me to a previous page. Also whenever I click a link it would open in a new window. This has never happened before. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hmm... thats weird. Just as I was typing this it fixed itself and is now not acting up. Since it's fixed I would still like to know how to fix it if it ever happens again. Always good info to have

there are many programs for your mouse that will do what you have stated.

normally with IE you have to have a mouse movement plus a keyboard action. i.e. hold ctrl and scroll to change the size of the screen text.

browsers like avant allow you to hold the right button and click the left to go back a page or hold the left and click the right to go forward a page.

so double check your mouse settings if it happens again (start > control panel > mouse (in windows)).

and as for the link opening in a new window, some pages are just built like that. was it a page that normally didn't do that? or one you had never visited before. or did all this start after visiting an unfamiliar page?

anyway, if all is well you don't have to answer. but if it happens again feel free to give the details. i'll help if i can. and i know Ron and AM are in here often, too. they are very helpful as well.

The site was INReview. I would just click on something it would open in a new page. So by the time I got to where I was going I had a bunch of pages open. The same would happen with Yahoo or any other site I visit regularly. I tried checking out my options but nothing. So I decided to ask you guys and while I was posting my query it just magically fixed itself.

Thanks for reminding me about the mouse settings. Completely forgot to check em' Hehe... having a little fun with the Display Pointer Trail option. Psychedelic stuff
