THis is one of my favorite stories. It has it all-dragons, heroes, action, and heartbreak.
Turin Turambar was one heroic man. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Shadow Stalker | | interestingly enough, it also has incest...even if the characters did it unwittingly...
yeah Turin was heroic, but he kept trying to escape fate...which most certainly made his life (and the lives of those he had dealings with) living heck. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Turin was an extremely proud man. That pride led to his problems. It was a very tragic tale.
Turin was sent away as a child by his mother for his safekeeping. He was fortunate to be fostered by the great elf king Thingol.
Shh, Shadow, you spoiled the big "ewww" moment in the story. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Yes that is what made the story so tragic. He at long last found love, only to have his heart and soul ripped out. I though the demise of Beleg would have done him in, but this was beyond reasoning. | | Reply To this Message

He was beloved by Thingol as a son and Beleg Cuthalion as a friend, he once dwelt in Amon Rudh with Beleg before being betrayed by Mim (who was killed by Beleg).
He held a sword made by Eol, I think it was, which gave him the name of Black Sword or something in Nargothrond. He was the only one who escaped the sack of Nargothrond. He killed Beleg by mistake, thinking him to be a servant of Morgoth and was then helped by Gwindor (from Nirnaeth Arnodiad).
He married his sister who had Amneasia but he didn't know it was her. He wore the Dragon-helm of Dor lomin. He killed Glaurung.
A true but truely Ill-fated hero. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Talk about a family curse. Still, Turin was a good fighter, but a stubborn man. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Shadow Stalker | | though that curse will in the end bite Morgoth in the butt, in the Dagor Dagorlad, Turin will have his revenge. | | Reply To this Message
