We had a show in Australia called Popstars before we had Australian Idol. Popstars was started in New Zeland and we did it and then Simon whats-his-name in UK created Pop Idol, which became American Idol. They has resurrected Popstars again in AUstralia to try and capitalise on the success of Australia Idol but with one difference:

They take duos, quartets. bands, whatever, as well as solo singers.

I think this is a fantastic idea. A lot of people have a band or would not have the courage to maybe sing solo and it gives those people a chance. Also this has a high quantity of people who play instruments, not just sing, so it makes for very entertaining viewing.

I think an Idol JUST for bands and groups would be a good show, what do you think?

i can just see the auditions though. thousands of people in line, camping out for a week with their drums and guitars and such. the bad ones would be very entertaining. i'd watch it.

this would be awsome. It would open the door for other types of pop instead of hip-hop pop. Maybe a little alernative pop... or even metal pop. (never thought i would ever hear myself say that.)

Isn't that basically what "Making of the Band" was?
