Nothing compared to last year

American Idol: Season 3 Forum

This year is really bad. Last year was so much better.Not everyone is bad but some of them I can't even belive that they made it through the first round.What do you think?

I think that there are no real stand out voices this year as far as star quality. Last year we had 3 fantiastic singers.

did u expect another clay? well, i personally think noone will ever measure up to clay ^^ but thats me. i agree with fuscia on that one.

i agree with you all on this. there ARE no great great singers this season. its a shame... American Idol has sucked all the talent out of America and this is all that's left.

There was great talent. There was Michael Keown and Lisa Leuschner.

I also thought based on the Hollywood group performances, that Dina Lopez (who sang with Elizabeth LeTendre and Leah Labelle) was really good. Of course of all the guys, I think in my opinion, Michael was the one with the truly good voice. John Stevens does have a lot of talent, but just something about him and by the way he's holding out in his performances, he's just not ready for the big time yet. JPL seems like someone who is ready...he has good performing skills, but the sound of his voice doesn't attract me that much.

I agree that comparitively speaking, this season is a BIG disappointment.

We were all excited last season and couldn't wait for each Tuesday to see our favorite. And the Top 3 were all so distinctively different from each other.
This season has given us a few powerful singers but they begin to sound the same and deliver with no heart or soul -- Diana, Latoya. The one who shows emotion and growth (Jennifer) folks don't like because she mugs.

Then we have Fantasia who seems to be the designated star but I don't care for her voice.

Jasmine who seemed like a possible, now seems to be losing ground.

The men are no better.

Matt and JPL had personality and we knew each had a good voice waiting in the wings. We're still waiting.
George also has a cute personality, but it's getting old now and his voice is starting to sound more strained than sexy to me.

Which brings me to everyone's favorite John Stevens, who was originally my best great hope. By the time they arrived at a genre that would best display his very good voice and where he was confident enough to show a little personality, they tell him he has no personality or charisma.

Who does have charisma of this group besides George folks ?







The ones who are unique and/or appealing are lacking in other ways.

Season 2 by far surpasses the talent this season has to offer. However, I enjoy Fantasia and I think out of the top 3 (imo, George, La Toya & Fantasia) she has that X factor (omg yes I read Simon Cowell's book). She's consistently had a tremendous performance.

This season, I think is different then season 2. Season 2 was different then season 1.

Season 1~Kelly Clarkson's voice spoke for itselfs. She was awesome and everyone knew she had the moment she opened her month. Justin was good but he had a weak voice in some areas...Kelly held it the whole show...

Season 2~Clay and Ruben stood out. Kimberly was good too, but you could tell it was going to come down to Clay and Ruben and I think everyone's month dropped open alittle when Ruben won....

Season 3~it's anyone's game. They go up and down, no one really stands out...and I hope them all the best and everyone keep voting and keep the one u like alive....

i kind of liked this years but i'm mad jpl got the boot.

I know this season is good but not as good as the last two....this year no one is standing out...u know...but hey let the best person win and GO JS

i heard some people say that well yall just dont like js for him looks...and remember how clay looked before..well he had the voice to start with..which helps..and it was like right before or after the wild card show...and sry but no matter WHAT they do..its not gonna be a clay make over...its a lost cause

No one will ever be as good as Clay...they is only one Clay Aiken. John Stevens, is awesome. He has a voice and looks.... and I think that if he made it to the top 5 or beyond that...he would rock...I mean he just needs his type of music to sing and sound good on....I like JS and will vote for him till the end...also half of why most people like him is because he is a kid...he is only 16 and most people who like him are his age...it's like having a **clay** our age...u know???

Yes, there will only be one Clay. No one else can match up to him. However, I don't even want anyone to. Clay is unique. I only want one of him. I don't need two. Everyone who is in the top 12 is all really talented, but in their own ways and styles.

I like Clay, he is awesome and the best singer around. If you make it into the top 12~your awesome and should well respect because I'm 17 and I have no idea how Diana or John get up there week after week and put their guts and fears aside and just sing out..... I could never do that...

It's funny because every year I always pick who will come in 2nd and this year i didn't but I think that if you give John Stevens some time...like a few years....maybe by 20 or so...he will be a good singer....I mean cause not all singers are good when they are 16 or 17...I mean even singers like Clay may not have sounded they best till they were 20 or older
