Hi mekmek  Welcome to INReview and the AI3 Forum.
Somewhere around here there is a long discussion about whether it's "plotted" or they are fibbing about the most/least votes. It came down to that it would be too big of a financial risk for them to do that because it would be fraud and a crime. They ( the producers ) would defeat their goal which is $ MONEY $ because the crime of fraud would cost them.

JPL and John Stevens both get a lot of votes from what I affectionately call young girlyfans. I think JPL gets the most.

Believe it or not there are people who wouldn't choose either of them -- mostly because they are kind of cookie cutter copies of what is already out there and not "unique".
Other than that, I agree with fuscia and KJ that their fans probably thought they were "safe" because they have a lot of fans and either didn't vote or supported someone else they want in the top 2 or 3.

you are really opened minded aren't you? well, while reading this post i was really disappointed. Everyone thinks differently. Me, for one, totally disagrees with you. The judges were looking for unique this year and they got John Stevens. Claymates wanted the next clay and Jon peter lewis was the closest. I don't like jasmine or fantasia. They sound... idk weird to me but thats me. But i like jpl and john s. everyone has different opinions. But i do not agree with diana and latoya getting in the bottom three.

The media has created this scenario where John, Jon Peter and Camile should have been in the bottom three. I saw the announcers on Fox news discussing it the morning after Amy was voted off. They all just acted like it was common knowledge that John, Jon Peter and Camile were the worst and that it was a shocking mistake, they were aghast, blah blah blah.
So that immediately makes fans of John, JPL and Camile comrades in arms. The whole world is against these three because they thought Amy, Latoya and Jennifer were "better". And everyone's saying "I don't understand how people can vote for these people who aren't any good. etc..etc...droning on indignantly.....etc.."
The whole thing is so distasteful to me. Maybe a lot of people have short memories but I remember each audition. I remember when these kids were all equally unknown. I saw the public fall in love with each of them including JPL, Camile and John. Sure I think Amy and Jennifer and Latoya are talented, I feel that way about all 12 of them and some of the ones that were not even in the final 32. I still miss Erskine Walcott I wish we had Suzy Vulaca. But we're talking about choosing from the twelve.
I 'd like a 12 way tie, frankly, but 3 of them are already gone and that's not the way the show is structured.
But I know that it is pretty clear from reading (and I do read too much) what JPL's, John's and Camile's fans have in common. They respect the divas but they aren't moved by them. They don't want to listen to them more than once. They were moved, and charmed, by something special in these three little underdogs. And they aren't going to stop liking them just because Fox news (or individuals like you) tells them to.
When I watched the night Amy was let go, it was not a surprise. It was clear from her being in almost everybody's bottom three for weeks. I mean you must have seen the constant "list your faves in order" and her name was rarely near the top. Everyone liked and respected Amy but she was not the one getting all the votes. As for Jennifer and Latoya they had their fans but they were clearly just not voting.
Why did the infamous 3 get more votes? Clearly their fans wanted them to stay in. What does it mean being a fan anyway? They aren't related to us - there's nothing in it for us - until this season started they were unknown to us. But somewhere along the line, whether at the audition or the day they made the finals, somewhere we realized we liked them best, believed they should win, and decided to like them "better" than the ones the judges were currently praising more.
At some point, all 3 of them had outstanding reviews from the judges. So how can people say they are talentless? The fact is their natural talent was not a one shot deal, or a fluke. It was there and is still there. If anything, the format of the show makes it hard for them to blossom, but that's another whole topic. I understand the argument that the winner has to be comfortable with pressure, able to shine in every performance, have a great charisma and stage presence, be able to sing every genre BLAH BLAH BLAH. I really don't care. And let me tell you people, it gets old.  I am not going to be "pressured" whether subtly, subliminally, or by any kind of reverse psychology, to stop liking the ones I decided I liked, of my own free will.
So if American Idol is the people's choice, what the heck is everyone so shocked about when people choose someone from the twelve and vote for them?

gee, not bad people to be compared with, Conan is funny and hobbits are charming 
regarding UND, as one who is rapidly approaching being an "older folk" , the body may age, but inside we are still in our youth.. maybe John Stevens reminds us of the "good old days" when singers sang songs with meaningful lyrics. and maybe JPL is an example of a nice young man with not a bad voice who we can enjoy..

It's not that we don't respect your opinions. It's the way that you say them. Instead of saying them in a nice way, you sound down right rude in the way you say "so and so sucks. they deserve to cry, and they should do it at home becuase that's what's going to happen".
