They weren't "surprised" exactly, just looking for reactions and the "drama". Remember when they kept putting the camera on Leah sobbing when she didn't make the top 2 in her group ? Someone posted that John was crying after Tuesdays show because he thought he was going home for sure -- so I'm sure he was shocked that he wasn't even in the bottom 3. Then they compound it by asking the judges if the right ones were in the bottom 3 and they all say no -- so John figures the judges think HE should be there. John looked really upset so they focused on that. So did Camile but she was controling her facial expressions a little better -- until they all came downstage behind Amy singing us out. John and Camile are both young and the ones with the least "experience" before audiences. Both of them -- really all of them were trying to digest what had happenned. They ALL were happy that THEY weren't leaving ... but every week they stay it's at the expense of someone else. It's tough that mixed emotion of being sad yet glad it's someone else and not you. It happens in life all the time.
Some other things: I think simon might have had a point about Amy looking like Leno's sister (don't get me wrong, I still love her). I also think that AI introducing the "boyfriend" two shows ago possibly killed a lot of her male votes.
You may be right about the boyfriend thing. As for the Leno-sister --- I think she may get some mileage out of that -- maybe a visit to Leno's show ? -- so maybe it's a good thing. |
