| I'm not passionately for or against this issue, but I have a question regaurding the definition of marriage and why some gay people seem to be so set on this word to describe their connection together.
Marriage is defined as between a man and a women. This is old news. According to christian and catholic religions the rules of marriage must be fallowed. The first rule is: One man and one women.
It's got nothing to do with prejudice in my eyes.
If the word marriage was not bound by any kind of religion, this whole issue would be an over-nighter.
This is just my observation, but it seems that the gay community is just trying to make their voices heard. Get some power in this country. I'm all for that. I don't care. Mission accomplished.
Why do they need the word "marriage"--which inherritly excludes gay people--to "bind" them for all eternity? If gay people are not happy with the terms of marriage, why don't they push to create a definition unbound by society and religion?
Seriousely. Think about this. They could create a word which some day replaces the word 'marriage'. Over time our whole culture would change. Cerimonies would change. The law's of families would change. Forever unbound by religion and society.
And no harm would be done because no one would be undermining any religions in the process.
I think this is the main reason why the people who seem "against" gay marriages are voicing their opinions on the matter. I know that it is possible for someone to support gay relationships, or even be gay themselves--and still appose gay 'marriage' for these reasons.
For the record--I have no religion, and I am straight. I just wanted to bring my point of view into the discussion. | |
