A Palestinian boy was killed on Saturday during an exchange of fire between Israel Defense Forces soldiers and Palestinian militants in the Balata refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus, hospital officials said.

The boy, Khaled Walweel, had been standing at the window of his home and just turned his back when he was shot and killed, his family said.

Troops entered the Balata refugee camp early Saturday to search for a fugitive suspected of being behind a number of attempts in recent weeks to smuggle explosives, said a local IDF commander, Col. Guy Hatzout.

Soldiers traded fire with Palestinian gunmen, but Hatzout ordered his troops to withdraw when they were unable to find the fugitive. Hatzout said he drove into the camp in his jeep to supervise the withdrawal of his troops.

The colonel said that there hadn't been any firing for about five minutes when suddenly a Palestinian gunman began firing toward the jeep from an alley. Hatzout said the man fired from behind a corner, and therefore couldn't see what he was shooting at. "Ten seconds later, I hear screaming behind my jeep. I see an entire family shouting, and in the arms of a father I see a bleeding boy."



Associated Press Television News footage shows a line of jeeps being pelted by stones as troops drive through one of the camp's alleys. At one point, a bullet hits the top right fender of the lead jeep, and moments later, screaming is heard and several people carry a boy into the street.

"He (the boy) was playing near the window," the boy's mother, Lina, said. "Suddenly, I heard shooting, and saw my boy drop from the sofa to the ground. I saw the (army) jeep from the window. The jeep was 10 meters from the house."

Hmmmm... that's interesting... a total contradictory. Clearly one side is lying, but which one?

A six-year-old Palestinian boy has been killed by Israeli occupation troops during a raid on the Balata refugee camp in the west Bank city of Nablus.

The family of the boy, Khalid Walwil, said he was shot in the head on Saturday morning when Israeli forces opened fire at the family home, according to Aljazeera's correspondent.

An Israeli military commander told reporters that there was no Israeli gunfire at the time of the incident, although troops had fired at Palestinian resistance fighters in earlier fighting.

The boy died of his wounds on the way to hospital after occupation troops blocked the way of the ambulance transporting him.

Israeli troops also occupied three houses in the refugee camp during the raid.

Palestinian youths are reported to have thrown stones at the jeeps in which troops were driving.

The Israeli troops then fired live bullets, hitting the six-year-old, Palestinian sources said.

The Israeli forces say they were searching for a resistance activist suspected of being behind a number of attempts in recent weeks to smuggle explosives.

Another Israeli news site (www.msn.co.il) reports that IDF offered a military ambulance to the injured boy, but they refused and carried him to a Palestinian ambulance.

It also says that foreign press appeared in the event and had been witness that the Palestinian militant killed the boy.

Would you send your kid to climb over an operated tank? The kids can die simply from an accident.

Can anyone in the tank see the boys behind? And what if it reverses? All the kids will be crushed and then the Israeli army is to blame again...

The title is not fair, both sides have different stories, so change the title to Palestinian Boy Killed In Nablus,

**** atleast show both sides of the story, like i did in my other thread.....

Comparing both of the titles for the threads, your sounds like its mostly about the Palestinian gunmen ( Palestinian Gun Men Kill ) and mine on the kid ( Palestinian Kid Killed ), worry about the kid more.....

You are right. It's because at first I read the Israeli version and was sure there's no other version so I posted the article saying clearly that the Palestinian gunman did it, but after that I found the other version and posted it.

I can't change the subject any longer. Maybe the moderators can do it instead.
