Frankly i think ''Civil rights'' is a horrible name for it, more like ''Hate white people''. Affirmative Action??!!?? please gimme me a break, Negro College Fund? what about the white college fund?. BET?? what about WET??

White people are being restricted by the very people we brought to this country, with a noose around our necks it gets tighter and tighter, all people were created equal and should get treated equal. I don't care if your black, white or even purple.

But African American Fanatics(Jessie Jackson). Is making it very hard for white people to function with out being ''raciest''. This man is not in it for civil rights, hes in it for Making life as hard as possible for white people

And even some people want to go to the extent as to sue the american government for Keeping them as slaves?

Let me ask you this are the Jews suing the government of Germany? or how about Egypt? NO!!

Im white, i have many black friends and i treat them the same as i would treat any white friend.

If your an Arab, African, or even chinese, and you don't like america is? go back to were you came from. Love it or leave it

That is the only part of your statement that I agree with. Speaking as a white American, I don't feel oppressed with the existence of the United Negro College Fund, when there are plenty of government sponsered student loan programs that assist people of all colors for educational purposes. I'm not offended by BET either. There are plenty of cable stations out there that appeal to particular groups and diverse groups alike. Take CMT, the country music channel. It doesn't appeal to everyone, but why isn't there a RMT for a rock music channel, Or CLMT for classical music, etc.? You might want to ask yourself why one channel out of hundreds available on cable television might bother you.
Jesse Jackson has been a prominant figure in the civil rights movement since the 60s. What exactly is it about him or his actions that bother you?
I've spoken with others on this site about slave reparations and one person came up with a fine solution to it, rather than pay a monetary settlement to the offspring of slaves, they should be offered a free college education. I thought that was a very valid solution.
As for your love it or leave it comment, I'm afraid you might have to heed your own advice. After all, it doesn't look like BET or the UNCF are going to go away any time soon.

P.S. I hope you don't think I was jumping your ass about this, I'm just offering my perspective on your comments. BTW, Welcome to INReview!

I dont care if you can have a black school but not a white school or if black comics can make fun of whites but not vice virsa. Its just not a big deal.

Years ago I applied for a position with the city as an electrician. I filled out a questionare, and took the test. I got a 96.

They were taking 10 people for interviews a couple of hours later. I didnt feel like waiting for everybody to finish thier tests ,so I ran some errands and came back.

The scores were posted when I came back . The column next to the scores had check marks next to the 10 people they wanted to interview , my column was not checked. The person on the line right above me got a 77 and was called for an interview.

I saw a gal I knew in the waiting room and gave her a hard time because she got called in and I didnt (she got a 98). I was about to leave when she leaned in close and said ''notice you are the only white guy in the room?''.

Turns out she got hired along with Mr77, who they got rid of 2 years later. I asked her if I should bother applying , she said no , I wasnt what they needed to ''fill out '' the crew.

ahhhhhhhhhh for the ones of you that know me, you know that I am not racist but I hate that "if you dont like it leave" line *arggggggg*

I am a big fan of the "If you don't like it, go back to where you came from" line.

People find this funny seeing as I am English born and living in a country that if you go back, actually belongs to Aboriginal people (don't get me started) not "white" people.

But I find this definitely applies when you see things like this happening in Australia:

We have Serbians and Croatians here who have gotten their visas by applying for refugee status due to war and stuff in their native lands. But they bring that war here with them and we now have, in Melbourne, gangs of Serbs and Croats going at it hammer and tongs every weekend.

If you say you want to come to another country to escape the hatred between the two races, and then don't bring that hate here with you. And if you do bring that war with you, don't tell our police to stay out of it. The laws of our country state that you can't kill someone, anyone. Not that you can kill the guy who's brother's aunt killed your sister's cousin’s friend ten years ago.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - THEN GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM

We get Muslims come here with the same excuse about being persecuted in their homelands and while I respect Muslims and I have Muslims as friends, some of the Muslim people take their religion to extreme (as we very well know).

Beating your wife is domestic violence/ spousal abuse no matter what religion you are part of and here, in Australia it is against the law. You CANNOT beat your wife for not (this is true story) having the lawn mower guy lay the new lawn strips horizontally across the garden. And if you don't want the neighbours to call the Police when they hear your wife screaming …

THEN GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM

If you want to live in Australia, or America, for that reason, and especially if you are emigrating from another country, then you should be prepared to abide by their laws TOTALLY, not only when it suits you. When you become an Australian Citizen, you swear to uphold and obey by all laws of the nation. I think if you don’t do it then you should have your citizenship revoked and be forced to ….

GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM

But thats just me ....

I believe you do have some very good points there schmiggens

Mr F, good attitude. My dad was an electrician and faced the same hurdles in Australia that you have seen there, but it didn't bother him. He just started his own business and never looked back.

affirmative action was made by someone with a good heart, but not smart brains (in my opinion).

We're basically telling some of our minorities in this country that they don't need to do well, or they don't need to try hard because they are special.

When these people who score less in school are holding the jobs of those who scored better--much better in some cases--what are we supposed to do with the standards of those respective companies? Just throw them out the window?

I don't think that's how business' are run.

In order to counteract the over-correction (aka affirmative action) we're going to have to lower EVERYONE'S standards in school and in society. How is THAT good for America? Just one step closer to socialism...

they should look at financial status, not race

a middle class black guy has the same opportunities as a middle class white guy

a lower class white guy has less opportunity than a middle class black guy

granted, a much higher percentage of black people are lower class, but if they go by financial status, they encompass the people who really need it, white or black. But it should only be done for things like college entrance, and it should have absolutely nothing to do with race. They shouldn't even have a race bubble on applications.

I agree with you 110%! The question of race on applications is marked "Optional". So why bother putting it there in the first place??

Actually affirmative action was made to protect prejudice....and although it was needed years ago...it should be phased out. I now believe that your statement holds true in this day and age.
