i have to say i was shocked that camille didn't get the boot. but i certainly was pleased to see diana in the bottom. i just don't like her. i can understand how people can say she's a good singer, but she's just too young and immature for my taste.

i wasn't surprised to see matt in the bottom 3, but i just thought camille was going to go first.

I am not surprised at Matt and Camile in the bottom 3 , but shocked that Diana took such a major nose dive.

As I said in the 3/23 show thread and previously ... all of Diana's performances seem canned and off the rack. I was also happy to see a somewhat normal reaction on her face.

I thought Camile would go first, but frankly thought Matt should go first.

It's now do or die for Camile. She needs to pull it out next week ( Motown ) or she's toast.

Matt's sing-out was hysterical.

The most pleasant surprise for me is that Jenn was NOT in the bottom 3.

I am soooooo glad that Camile has made it through! I am really glad that Matt went, however i am totally shocked that Diana was in the bottom 3??? Her performance last week was amazing and i thought that she was one of the certaintees to get as far as the top 5.

I guess it shows that you have to keep your standards high and take nothing for granted! Mind you country was one of the harder themes for alot of the singers.... and for someone so young to adapt isnt easy.

The pressures definitely going to be on Camille to perform next week... it'll be interesting to see if being in the bottom 3 will wake her from her slumber.

I am sad to see Matt go, but his send out was awesome! I'll bet Simon was just freaking out with Matt singing to him and when he touched his face!

I've just become too much of an AI fan that i cant wait til it gets televised down under to findout about performances and results.

good point about diana. mind you just cos she grew up in Georgia doesnt mean she likes/sings country well. It seems like shes good at the songs that she can really belt out... i dont think country is that - i think it needs more tone.
its still surprising that one not so good performance could land her in trouble even though i have thought that her previous performances have been really good - especially last week.... i guess she doesnt have as strong a fan base as i had initially thought!

It also shows how important song choice is!

Camilles got a stronger fan base who are prepared to stick by her which is really good to see... i love Lauryn Hill and Camilles voice is a pleasure to hear when she sings it with confidence and with enjoyment... if only Camille can start to enjoy herself, let herself go and then i'm in no doubt that she'll produce and grab fans a plenty.

An interesting comment made by Simon last week when comparing Camille to Latoya was that Latoya had the confidence! That was what separated the two performances ... and Latoya is definitely one of the favourites to go as far as the last 3 ....in my opinion of course.

Camille is the sleeping beauty of the competition - not quite yet the dark horse :-)

First I think the whole "Country" theme was so non Country I couldn't believe it. No Garth or Vince or Allan or Tobey. Most songs I never heard of in my life and son't care to hear again.

Desparado was murdered by Camille, she was so nervous she couldn't get out one good note. Sorry Down Under fan, just feel like she should have been the one to go not Matt who has a really nice personality and gives his heart to his songs.

People are nuts and unpredictable and there he is on his w ay back home and we are stuck with Camille for another week of weak performances.

Diana or Diane was no more country then Me and I only like the music but sure can't sing it.
She needed a push down to make her try harder, even though I don't believe she has the It factor.

I was sure Jennie, sorry obaf, woulld be in the bottom three, but she pulled it off.

Well we have lost a great guy but my Geoorge is hanging tight.

No probs delta... i do conceed her performances havent been up to scratch (apart from her first audition).

The difference must have been that Camille has a stronger fan base willing to vote for her.

I do think that Leah deserved to go last week without a doubt! And thats the beauty of the final 12 stage and beyond - from now only one goes home each week and normally it is the weakest performer or least popular person.

Matt did give his all to every performance but yet it didnt always come out great. i was really surprised that he qualified from group 2 to be honest but i guess that was down to his fun personality and not on just his performance on the day (cos there were a couple of peeps who i thought sang/performed better than him).

Unfortunately, there are quite a few characters in the final 12 and varying personalities and i guess Matt has lost out in the end.

Who knows it could be Camille next week but i hope not.

This one completly surprised me. I got Camile right but I figured she would be out.

Matt and Diana in the bottom 3, Now that is just odd. And Matt out the door. I just have to say Wow!

I thought Diana's performance was awsome. Matts was ok but not the worst. I just don't get the voters.

Can't wait until next week. Things are going to get tough.

Amy NAILED her song. She sang the Dixie Chicks perfectly. She was so country.

The rest... well, I wasn't impressed at all. They didn't sing very well, doing country.
Some butchered the songs... but, that's to be expected.
John still sounds like nothing but a crooner. I've heard NOTHING different from him, at all.

So, I was not surprised at the bottom 3. Okay, a little shocked to find Diana in the bottom. I was surprised, completely, that Matt went before Camille. She's next week though, unless she pulls motown off.

My thougts exactly KJ. Like I said on another thread, Country songs?

Camillle sand Dsperado and murdered it, but that wasn't country only Western, which doesn't qualify in my book.

What the dang ha[[ened to all the real country songs from the real stars like Garth and Gill, Tobey, Allan etc. etc.

Country is different to every single person. Some like the old style... from the 60's and 70's. Some like the 80's style and how it start to change a bit. Some like the 90's, where country took off, and commercialized as well. Some like it all. Me, I'm in the last category. I like it all. So, to me, they all did country songs, but most didn't make it sound country at all. Amy did. She nailed it.

i'm a sucker for the older country. i like the 80's (of course) but the older stuff really gets me all misty-eyed.

i agree, kj, they all did country songs. my wife was in the same boat as delta. "is that a country song?" and stuff like that throughout the show. but she's not into music like i am. i pretty much like a little of any and everything.

I guess I am old fashioned because I love the ones I mentioned . Maybe you are right in saying they w ere Country songs, guess my taste runs more to the kind of Country that johhny Cash represented and of course Vince.Gill etc.

Well, it's because they took country songs, and sang them without a country beat, the music was 'pop' and didn't have twangs at all. You don't have to use a country "voice" to sing country. Very few professional country singers do, because when you sing, you have no accent. You're using your vocal cords differently. But, these people sang sloppy. They didn't try to make it sound country at all, and that's what I really hated.

Yes You are right kJ, they murdered the country theme.

There should be a way for the fans to let them back stagers know, HaHa.

No, no singing at MY wedding. No thanks. Amy Adams could though... I would LOVE to have her sing some Celine Dion songs for us.

obaf, maybe my idea of country is of the Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings group even Hank Williams SR and Jr, is because I bought all the golden oldie cds and that ie what i listen too.

The complete desecration of Camille singing Desparado would make the Eagels throw up and KJ's cats go running for
cover.

You are probably right about the others but as KJ s aid they were singing Country with a pop beat and I am prone to go with the beat.
Amy Adams was terrific.

You know what going to happen to your favorite John L?

He is going to faint from Tacha Bradia ( slow heat beat) He never wakes up to get with any thing, I believe a part of his trouble is his age , too young and inexperienced. Haven't seen a real smile on his adorable face. Its a shame.

Delta, my mom was a country fan when I was growing up. She listened to Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and the like. I think of them as country.

Maybe there should be a distinction between Country and Pop Country (or Modern Country)? You know I don't like Country but I love Bluegrass. Is Bluegrass Country? Some of it is heard on Country stations but I suspect that there are Country fans that don't like Bluegrass.

Now we come to this, Is Motown the same as Soul? What's the difference?

I didn't like Amy until I heard her sing Sin Wagon. Now she is my favorite. I agree with most everyone else about Camille. She will probably be the next one to go unless she knocks us out with her Motown performance. Motown may work for her. She has a voice and style that may work with Motown.

I can't believe we just lost Matt Rodgers. We just lost a huge bit of entertainment.

Camille MUST pay for this. She's boring, no personality and her scratchy voice does not appeal to me at all.

Can't believe Matt is out.

The judges do have their favourites to win and of course they are going to try and push them through to the final stages without a doubt... but of course the only way they can do that is by setting these theme nights accordingly and also possibly sway some voters by their comments. Its up to the contestants to prove themselves ... and just as a remark i was impressed by Amy's performance.. i watched the playback yday and it was very peppy and entertaining to watch - of course it was in a different league to Matts send off song for Simon :-)
