I don't think anyone's posted these as yet... here's some trivia from www.imdb.com
Steven Spielberg was rumored to be directing this movie.
Director Chris Columbus opted out of directing the third installment, citing that he missed his family and wanted to spend more time with them. He says he is very open to the idea of directing the fourth Potter film.
Other directors reportedly considered for this installment of the Harry Potter series included Callie Khouri and Kenneth Branagh.
After the death of Richard Harris, many actors were considered for the vacant role of Albus Dumbledore. Christopher Lee was in the frame for a while, and there was a rumor (reported in many newspapers) that Ian McKellen was also considered. Michael Gambon finally got the role.
Ewan McGregor was considered for the role of Prof. Lupin.
The effects team spent six months creating the dementors.
Honeydukes "is floor-to-ceiling psychedelia" and includes Mexican skulls made of sugar. The cast was told that the Honeydukes candy was lacquer-coated, when in fact it wasn't, to prevent candy from disappearing between takes.
Illusionist Paul Kieve served as a consultant. He taught magic to several members of the cast including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson (Hermione and Harry) and worked extensively to create physical magical effects. He is the first illusionist to have worked on any of the series of films. He is also to make a cameo appearance in the film in a scene in the Three Broomsticks pub.
Filming was halted following the vandalization of the train used as the Hogwarts Express.
The set for Honeydukes was previously been used for Olivander's Wand Shop in _Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone (2001)_ .
The film was offered to director 'Guillermo Del Toro' but he opted to do Hellboy (2004) instead
I had no idea about the Hogwarts Express being vandalized. It takes a real ass to do something like that. It's like that group of trees on a small mountain on the West coast; one of them is 4700 years old, it's the oldest living organism on the planet, but they can't state which because they're worried about vandals. Sorry to go off-topic. Anyhoo, Ewan would have been a nice choice but he may be a little too young for the part. It's not his fault though, as he's a perfectly competent actor.
Yeah, she probably did. I saw her say once that she plays someone who's out of their mind and in one scene standing at the top of a stair-case waving a glass of brandy around and babbling about nothing in particular - she said that's just a typical day for her, so it wasn't a stretch
Ahh man, I didn't know Ewan McGregor was considered for Lupin! I don't know if I would have been able to handle that. I would have been too busy staring and thinking how hot Lupin is to realize the full moon and that he's turning into a warewolf, and that would have just ruined it for me. But ah man, that would have been great.

I always pictured Lupin as good looking, so Ewan would have been great for the part.
You can always make people look a little older than they are... I wonder what other roles there could possibly be that he could take on? Lord Voldemort perhaps? Oooh spooky
You guys just imagine all fictional male characters as being handsome .... except you Kris, you imagine them all looking like Brad Pitt. Some Se7en Brad, some Meet Joe Black Brad. Some probably look like Lucy Lawless even
Me, all the blokes were ugly in my imagination wonder why that is
gaboman said this in post #28 : no no no, that's right, some look like meet joe black brad, and some look like se7en brad some look like xena Lucy, some look like .... not xena Lucy
Oh Grant, Harry Potter is pure to Kris. All the OTHER movies and books , well there is Legolas Brad, Captian Brad and wench Lucy.....
HEY... Lucy is NOT a wench... errrr, well, in a few fantas... never mind!
I actually don't picture Brad in books, or movies.
Now, I read a lot of "fan fiction" that has characters that are based off of Lucy and Renee, and therefore, I do picture her in that role. But, that's it.
