| JK Rowling has donated a pair of her shoes to an exhibition to raise awareness about domestic violence. The Young Women's Christian Association came up with the shoes idea for representing the women who are killed, as they symbolise the empty footsteps. JKR wore the black satin, star-encrusted, Jimmy Choo shoes to the Edinburgh premiere of the first Harry Potter film. When the exhibition stops touring the shoes will be auctioned for charity, with JK Rowling's shoes expected to make £3,500. She sent a note with the shoes, which said:
"I wore these shoes to the premiere of the first Harry Potter film. I love them dearly but they can do more good supporting hundreds of women rather than one nervous, wobbling writer." | |
